Tell me about it, apparently don’t know about, or turn eyes away from the pile of crap 8 speed trans Gm has problems with and can’t fix/ or won’t fix under warranty. They actually had to abandon the junk and worked with ford to try get something worth a darn

I have to hand it to you to work on all this new stuff and fix them right, When my 09 Ram six speed died the best transmission guy I know said get a rebuilt from Dodge, $3,300 for just the transmission no install, I went with $2,500 total job lasted one year, got factory rebuilt 3 year warranty now

I know this guy who worked 20 years at local Trans shop, said if the transmission owner or him did not know (old school ) a rebuild well they ordered one from Jim's auto salvage in Sebring.

A rebuild one came with oil change and paint job, the rebuilt longer warranty version gets a recon torque converter and paint job, said it's all about the warranty which they do stand behind, more silver paint.

    Shady people everywhere.

Thanks for the kudos Cuda. There is always that dilemma when it comes to how to replace a blown trans, especially when it's no longer warranty. I always say a wrecking yard trans is a gamble, you never know how it was treated in the first place, and even though they come with a replacement warranty, do you really want me putting 2 or 3 transmissions in before we get a "good" one? A complete overhaul (unless you've destroyed hard parts) usually comes in at 2/3 the cost of a new one, and less warranty than new. Most of my rebuilds are new vehicle warranty jobs, and right now that's the 10 speed and 6 speed rwd and the light 6 speed fwd transmissions. To get back on topic, of all the dps6's I have worked on, I have only had about 2 dozen apart for internal failures, they are pretty tough other than the clutch and TCM.

Any experience with the 8-speed Aisin and ZF transmissions that most everyone have been using for the last 10 years or so?

LOL. After 5 Chevy Diesels since 2004, we went back to 2019 F350 6.7. I considered the 2020 but I have a buddy with a Raptor 10 speed that hunts for gears way to much so we decided on sticking with a 2019. There is absolutely no comparison in how this ford pulls compared to the 2012 3500 Chevy it replaced. It is a WAY better truck to haul with and we pull 19K with it among other trailers.

Now if you delete the DPF & DEF crap......that 350 will not only be able to pull a house down, it'll double its lifespan. Awsome truck you bought
