    Question for Vegas resident$

On vacation this week in Vegas and surprised how the hotels jack up prices. A 20oz coke is 3.25, wife’s. Star Bucks is 75% more than back home. My question are the prices more close to reality away from the hotel is food and grocery stores, etc? Btw coke is $2 back home!

I don't live in Vegas but have visited and yes, there are better prices where the "locals" shop vs the "tourist" places!

At a local trampoline park the other day, a 16oz coke from machine was $3.

    A 16oz bottle of water was $2.
    16oz X 8 = 1 gallon
Or, $16 for one gallon of water. Just over 5x's the price of gas.

ETA- Those might have actually been 20 oz bottles.

And people still flock there every year. Much like the over priced pro sports tickets, as long as they still sell nothing will change. The only solution is to stay away, and find other ways to waste your money, like Boats!!

Yes, get away from the strip and there's a whole town of normal people paying normal prices. Local Smith's has the 24x case of 16oz waters for $3.99.

We love Smith's, and everything about Vegas that isn't the strip. Of course, I still like the lights on the strip...

Keith, I'll have to look you up some time. I moved my wife to Vegas last summer for a job, and bought an old jet while I was there. In fact we put in at Willow Beach and ran south on the Colorado River this past Sunday. I'm in town as often as I can be, in between her trips back here. Is there a local boat club for folks like us, or do you just go out and run with whoever is there on a given weekend?

    Thanks,

    Rick

No boat club in town anymore after Las Vegas Hot Boats kinda disbanded. There's always people going to Mead though. Lake Mohave is great too...a nice ride South of Willow Beach usually - at least until no-ski point. Can get rough if the wind is blowing North past there. Kevin and I used to make breakfast runs from Willow to Cottonwood in the winter time. Had the whole lake to ourselves.
    Keith-

All the water has a strong metallic taste... maybe from area 51 testing!
