Pretty sure it was a 2 liter Mercury in Paris that year. Only the ON class was invited 1973..not the OZ class.

Can't help with this pic, but can tell you Dieter never won first overall at the Havasu OWC. I think he brought the first "tunnel" to Havasu in 1966. At that time I think they not only awarded overall winners, they also recognized First Single, First Twin and First Unlimited. Dieter may have been First Single in 66. The best finish for him at Havasu that I am aware of is 16th overall in a twin in 1969.

    Thanks @willabee ,

If I remember right/correct Mr. Bill told me long time ago Dieter did race the first tunnel in Havasu and won the single outboard class..
I did find this picture of Dieter working on a Merc powerhead and drinking Heineken beer..

That is correct, class win. First place in single engines, not overall

    1. What is the best overall finish achieved by a Schulze boat at the Havasu Outboard World Championship?

    2. Who drove that Schulze?

3.What did the driver name the boat?

That looks like Franco Molinari, the younger brother of Renato and Giorgio.

Bert Serra finished 2nd overall in his Schulze named Banana Split at the 1972 Havasu OWC. His two year old Schulze was only about 40 seconds behind Johnny Sanders, driving a new Scotti, when the checkered flag waved!
(it's very blury, but it says Banana Split in front of thr number 501)
