I guess it is official, an era is over. No grid girls for Formula 1 this year.

“Over the last year we have looked at a number of areas which we felt needed updating so as to be more in tune with our vision for this great sport," said Sean Bratches, Managing Director, Commercial Operations at Formula 1.

"While the practice of employing grid girls has been a staple of Formula 1 Grands Prix for decades, we feel this custom does not resonate with our brand values and clearly is at odds with modern day societal norms. We don’t believe the practice is appropriate or relevant to Formula 1 and its fans, old and new, across the world.”

    Yep. Saw that.

They don't understand that part of why we watch it is it is non PC.

They killed Indy Car w/bumpers and spec cars and I haven't watched since.

    Looks like F-1 is next.
I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.

I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

Univision Deportes had the best coverage in the US. No commercials and just the plan feed from FOM with their Spanish commentators. Don't understand 99% so easy to ignore.

Next year I hear US will be just be the base FOM world feed on ESPN. So not the Sky Hamfan crew and no ESPN content except commercials. Liberty Media (who owns F1) is something of an adversary to NBC and friends with Disney/ABC/ESPN so it seems they just gave the rights to ESPN with no planning.
NBC was only paying 2-3 million a year for the rights which is nothing.

The real question is what is Liberty working on digital streaming options in the future. I know would pay extra for a streaming service where I had some options for what to watch and listen to.

Looks like we are getting the Sky Sports coverage.

And they announced many of the details of the online future. If they can deliver it looks to have what I have been wanting and am willing to pay for.

That looks interesting. I hope it's affordable and available on a race by race basis if one chooses.

    Interesting.

$96 - $144 per season to watch it on your lap top.
    Which I will not do.

This is why I still pay to subscribe to my local paper and several magazines.
Refuse to read them online too.

I subscribe to Hot Rod mag too which is truly turning to **** but also going all in on online.
I paid to subscribe to print to show support.

    Oh well....

I can go to my dirt half mile to watch that. F1 is supposed to be the NASA version of auto racing and they should let them push boundaries. They just need to reign in the BS ass kissing politics and play fair with all the teams. My .02...
