    Thumbs down F1 coverage

Just found out ESPN will be covering the F1 races next year and will be using the F1 World Feed for broadcasting the races.
No more David Hobbs, Steve Machette, Leigh Diffy and Will "from the pits" Buxton.

    This sucks!

That is stupid. Love the commentary from Diffy, Hobbs, and Matchett. Hobbs being an ex-F1 competitor and Matchett a former F-1 engineer added greatly to the info-tainment aspect. As with everything else these days...it's all about the Benjamins anymore.

I think they are using the Hamilton ball gargling bukkake fest British Sky Sports feed. Which I find it hard to believe they can find the way to the commentators because they have been functioning as Hamiltons personal bidet for years.
All of which doesn't matter this series is a rules strangled rotting corpse. Watch formula 2 if you want to see and hear real racing.

I can't imagine much worse for commentators than Hobbs, Machette, Diffy, Buxton or Varsha. Although I sometimes watch Sky using a UK VPN and they can be just as lame. I get their nationalistic bias but it gets a little silly with the Hamfan worship. And Mutton before that.

Univision Deportes had the best coverage in the US. No commercials and just the plan feed from FOM with their Spanish commentators. Don't understand 99% so easy to ignore.

Next year I hear US will be just be the base FOM world feed on ESPN. So not the Sky Hamfan crew and no ESPN content except commercials. Liberty Media (who owns F1) is something of an adversary to NBC and friends with Disney/ABC/ESPN so it seems they just gave the rights to ESPN with no planning.
NBC was only paying 2-3 million a year for the rights which is nothing.

The real question is what is Liberty working on digital streaming options in the future. I know would pay extra for a streaming service where I had some options for what to watch and listen to.

    No ****?

A US company just bought F-1 so this is part of their change.

Machett, Hobbs and boys were just mouth pieces for F-1 anyhow.
All Machett talked about was tire options, never talked about the motors, and then started calling them "power units" due to their electric motors.

New owners best pull their heads out of their asses and realize they bought a sinking ship.

On one practice session I caught that F-1 was paying Ferrari 13 million in appearance money!
    New owners said fk that.
Ferrari said they dill quit w/o it.

Like the NFL, when they start mandating elec motors, no talk about ENGINES, no
pictures of ENGINES (in yrs) and their on air commentators are clearly puppets...., fk them.

    Good riddance.
I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.

I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

    Agreed.

But, new owners have to have the stones to stand their ground.

Only saw/heard it that one time and was during practice coverage which no one watches.
Not one word during race coverage.

Well it looks like most of you don't like the current NBCsn F1 crew. I figurered Hobbs was going to gone soon,he sounded like he had some kind of a stroke or something on several races and I'm not a big fan of his anyway.
I do like Machette and Buxton though. Yes they tip toe around "political topics". I did love when Will Buxton kept pressuring Vetel about the collision with Hamilton in Azerbijan and Vetel kept acting like he didn't know what Will was talking about. That had me laughing big time.

You know the network won't take flack for what they say and no telling what their contracts allow them to say.
There are things they say about teams not doing this or that I call BS on but unfortunately we live in a world where big companies are liability gun shy about everything.

From what I understand the hybrids will either be gone in 21 with a TT V6 replacing them or an optional twin turbo V6 will be allowed to run with the hybrids.
IMO, while hybrids from a tech standpoint are cool they are too damn expensive, complicated and unreliable.

Look at the WEC LMP1 class, Audi gone, Porsche gone, Mercedes gone and only Toyota is left. This coming WEC season they are doing away with the LMP1 Manufacture's Championship and replacing it with a LMP1 Team Championship; since Toyota is the only LMP1 engine manufacture left.
Other than a few car companies willing to spend mega millions developing a F1 hybrid powerplant no one wants to even try it. It's too damn expensive.

Honestly I doubt most fans care that much if F1 cars are powered by TT V6's or a naturally aspirated V8. I would love to see 4 to 5 or more engine manufacturers involved in F1.

One thing I really don't want to see is more races added. There are more than enough now. Use to be when the season was over I was bummed and hungry for next season. Now there are a couple of races I don't really care to even watch and I'm kinda burnt out by the time the season is over.

What else do they compete in besides F1, WEC LMGT Pro/AM and IMSA GTLM-GTD. Heck, one of their most successful GT teams isn't from Italy but Houston,Tx; Risi Competizione.
