I've been snooping around the site and saw your post about it. Mine had a JSRE 260 on it before but I couldn't afford the whole package at the time. From what I recall it ran mid to upper 80's and may have got a little sketchy. I understand the 20.8s do better with the heavier 3.0l's. I was reading a for sale ad on a 20.8 with a 250xs and they say it ran mid 80's all day long.
If I have mine long enough to upgrade I think I'll go the XS route. Just my $.02...

Put the 300 on it!! I only have experience going from a 240HP Bridgeport to the 300X I have on it now. But it ran 71 with the Bridgeport and 150lbs of speakers and amp in the front of the bow, but with the 300 i have run a best of 89.1 and I am certain if I removed the speakers and amp it would run 93 or 94 and possibly even 95, but I like the tunes while I am out in it. I have 10 inches of set back now and it would likely like a couple of more inches. The boat carries the extra weight on of the 3.0L better than the 2.4 imo.

Thanks!
Removed the paralift about 2 years ago when the transom & knees were rebuilt. Added a Hydro Dynamics 12" static plate and then bolted a 6" Bob's Action Series hydraulic jack = 18" of total setback.
I've played around with some different props, including a big Hydromotive wheel, but it's still not really setup yet to "fly". That will require more tinkering and testing... which has been in short supply in recent years.
Right now I just run a Trophy Plus which has been a pretty good all around prop.

it sounds like a lot of people havetransom problems on these? Mines solid as a rock no cracks or flex or rot or de lam. Ya my 25 trophy seems to be the best all around. 24p re4 is giving me the beat top end but kind of a dog out of the hole. Also have a 21p that I’ll run with a boat full of people.

There were a couple serious flaws with mine.
1. The foam located in the sponsons was not installed (poured?) well. Once water made it's way in there it had no real way to escape due to poor drainage. The foam then became waterlogged and there was moisture/water just sitting in there. This created a constant, slow drip out of the drain plug hole. For the first year or so I couldn't figure out what was causing it or why it always dripped .
2. The floor was glassed directly together with the knees, with no separation. Once the resin coating on the floor started to chip/flake/wear away the wood got wet and started to rot. This moisture and wetness in-turn, made its way into the knees and transom.
All my issue were present when I purchased the boat. Just didn't see the signs until it was too late. Lesson learned... no regrets.
customer1skier recently found some floor issues, but doesn't believe his was glassed the same way as mine... so my experience may not be the same as other Sebring owners.

Does the RE4 carry the bow well?
MODVP22 already mentioned it, but mine needs a lot of trim to really get up and go... and even then I haven't found the right setup to carry the nose at higher speeds (yet).
I also think I might have some issues similar to dbcycleparts. I don't have 150 lbs of speakers in the front but I've got a sub-woofer, 2 amps, etc.... which probably isn't helping!
Going to try several prop / lower units combos at some point when I can get a day away from the wife and kids . Haven't gotten too serious about testing different combos... and typically just go out and run it / have fun the way it is.
