If the pad looks like that, you will be ripping up the rest of the boat and replacing that too. Gotta love that Hydrostream itch. A lot of us have been there. LoL

Yup, there is core on the outside of the stringers as well.

Here is my vulture with the core done and gel coated over already. You can see it goes down the pad and then outside the stringers as well. You got a lot of ripping out to do. All the way to the bow of the boat and all the way out to both sides.

Here is what my Vector looked like the day I bought it. You can see the area where the core is outside of the stringer box down the middle. All Hydrostreams have pretty much the same core lay out. There is more core in a vector and viper than a vking or vulture though. I personally dont own an XT hull so not sure about core in the gunnels.

Wow, looks like a lot of the core material came with the top skin! Was the rest of it adhered to the bottom well? Curious if it did this because its so wet or because it wasn't bonded to the hull that well to begin with. I really don't know, this is all new to me and I'm learning as I go.

Great work, keep it going! Few of us are doing the same right along with you.

I'm guessing its the water that broke the bond on both bottom and top of core

I removed part of the cockpit flooring towards the transom

I took a sample of the stringer and it looks dry, but will be removing it nevertheless

the hull bottom has a core from the stringer all the way to just before the sponson

the core is a combination of balsa and pure resin

you'll notice the pure resin because its green-like jelly appearance

I've realized that that hull bottom is not all cored.

I've been tracing the area of the hull bottom where there is balsa core and the area where there is pure resin

    shown here

I'm thinking that a previous owner may have worked on this because the stringer is dry and looks new and also the balsa are inconsistent

this little area was a very time consuming effort because I couldn't tell which way the balsa is laid out

but I think that the rest of the port side core will follow this balsa-resin layout

I exposed more of the core

the balsa core widened as I moved towards the bow
