When I was young and into snowmobiles (looooooong time ago) I had a friend with a 400 like yours that ran it on the ice with studded tires.....KILLER!

    Very nice!

Been following the classic bike market for yrs and close joining in.
I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.

I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

In the early 70s we all had SL70s and XL70s. I redid this one a few years ago, and have all the parts to do a complete SL70 if I ever get time.
Funny, you pay as much now for a seat or exhaust pipe as the whole bike cost new!

I have a 1973 as new XR75 in shop as well. Yes rebuilding one even if you do every detail yourself will 100 dollar you to death!
I did everything on 400 myself including paint and now ive got about 3800.00 in a 2500 bike. it was about 900.00 brand new in 72

Cool! I had a mid 70's XR75 too. Had a bunch of them old Jap bikes. Had a 71 TS125 Zuk that looks to be the same frame as those 400's above. Had a early 80's Yami IT170 iirc, that bike was pretty dang quick too. Then later I had some more serious ones, a mint CR125 piped up etc. The best one I ever had was a mid 80's XR600 that thing was dang hella nasty. It ended my dirt biking days, where do you go from there? Plus my bones couldnt take anymore breaks ha

Then the 3-4 wheeler crazy started for me. Three wheelers phased out pretty quick but the 4 wheelers were useful as mini tractors as well as kinda fun. No comparison to the bikes though.
