Roy Ridgell introduces himself to Prince Phillip.
If only I could step back in time, and my efforts could rewrite present day history. Then the historical revisionism would go something like this Canterbury tale.
~~~
I am enjoying a meal with my dad, boating enthusiasts, and other Mercury team members, at Tabard Inn. When we all proceed to retire to our sleeping rooms, I take my dad to the side. With youthful persuasion, I implore my dad.
Dad when Prince Phillip and his entourage, approaches you tomorrow, I have a gift for him. It is letter of humble recommendation. And my dad, not wanting to be party to such foolishness,
nevertheless takes the message.
Next day after the informal meeting at the British boating event, my dad gives the
Duke of Edinburgh, my parting gift. It’s a hand written letter from me, to his royal highness.
This is the tale’s advantage of hindsight, going back to the past, and creating revisionist history.
The letter's content, to be continued ...
Lake X Kid, letter to the Duke of Edinburgh - Prince Phillip.
Sir Duke of Edinburgh,
Your honorable sons are destined to be fine members of the royal family, as is their father,
Your Royal Highness. Your oldest son, a pure blood, is in the lineage of upholding his royal duties.
The younger royal, the Duke of York, if humbly permitted, I would like to suggest some alternatives. There are some fine young women, here in the boating community, even though they are of common blood, they are upstanding British citizens. They are ladies in waiting, and would make any gentleman a fine wife. They will not publically embarrass the Queen Mother, nor the Duke of Edinburgh or the British people.
(...This part is not in the letter. What a coup of triumph for the British boating community if
Prince Andrew were to have married: a daughter of Jackie, Bob, Tom or any of the other maidens in the marine industry. Now back to the letter).
Sir bewares, of Jeffrey Epstein, and his consort of questionable crime Ghislaine Maxwell. Warn Prince Andrew to not fall victim, to their lair of playboy mansions and financial wealth. Bad publicity of wide-world proportions will befall the Duke of York, if he personally associates with said party.
Prevent the House of Windsor’s future, from surpassing King Arthur’s court in machinations.
Yours sincerely,
Lake X Kid
It was tough sometimes being a race boat driver ! But somebody had to do it!!!
Just heard Andy Elliot was rushed into hospital and had a brain tumour removed . He then had two more operations and is now in an induced coma.
Andy raced with my son Mark in the Fonda series of races.
Son of RON and Mary Elliot. Long time members of the LMBRC.
Andy is only 64. The occasional prayer wouldn’t go amiss here .
I am very sorry to hear about Andy Elliott, but Andy is a fighter and I've seen him in a serious condition before in a hospital in St Petersburg and he made nothing short of a miraculous recovery. He even flew home with a punctured lung after being cleared by a Russian doctor! I wish him all the best and a full speedy recovery.
Ive known Andy since he was five years old. Knew his mum and dad too. Salt of the earth people, died long before their time. His father Ron raced both outboards and inboards.
Andy should have won the Fonda world title at his first attempt, it went down to the wire, but John Hill beat him in the last race of the season. He was so nervous, he pittled at least five times in the hour before the start. John of course had been racing for 20 years by then and was much more experienced.
If Theres any chance at all, then Andy will take it, May your God be with you Andy Elliot.
