That will be one of these two pairs of bolts. You can see/access them after removing the air box, throttle bodies, and intake manifold/reed plates. If they have loosened and the block is leaking between the two halves then the powerhead will probably have to be split, cleaned, and resealed to properly repair. You may get lucky and stop the leak with a re-torque...

So if loctite wasn't used correctly and the bolts did back off then it more than likely needs to be rebuilt?

Nitro gave you the perfect answer. If you are lucky and it seals after retorque. You should be good to go. If it it doesn’t seal, it will have to be split, cleaned, resealed with loctite gel. Good bit of work, but not hard.

Glen Reynolds is in Harriman, TN. Not sure how close you are to Harriman but Glen will be able to fix it.

It looks like he's in east TN but regardless I'll try to look him up and get his number in the morning and get his advice/opinion on what we need to do! We haven't found anybody local that really knows these motors.

I talked to Brad on the phone last night (Lauren's husband). He has been given so many different opinions that I can't help over the phone. He needs to find somebody close that he can trust to diagnose his engine. He did tell me that a mouse had chewed wires near the coils and he tried to repair with liquid tape (might be his entire problem). He also told me that this is a mercury reman 225 Promax powerhead and it is black. Anyone ever see a black Promax? Anyone close to Nashville that could take a look at his motor?

We would love to find someone close by to take a look at it and offer advice or help!! After he talked to you last night Trent he ended up calling the 1st mechanic back to tell him what C&O Marine was saying to get his opinion and the mechanic said it definitely wasn't a cylinder down and also said that all the spark plugs were good but C&O is saying 2 are bad...

Its very possible that the wires Brad repaired are not insulated properly and creating problems with your ignition/coils. This could mean some of the cylinders are not firing. Sounds like issue started right after mouse incident. Is this correct?

As far as we know, yes.. I found the mouse bed by the motor that Friday night and we took the boat out Saturday morning and that's also when we found the wires had been chewed too! Should we run electrical tape over each wire to see if that helps.

Tape wouldn't hurt, but mouse might have cut some of the copper in the wire and not getting good connection. I would replace harness. Im sure I have one that I can send to you. Can you send a picture of the area the mouse chewed to my phone? Serial Number off of powerhead would really help (should be stamped on a welch plug about the size of a nickel on top of engine, beside flywheel).
