Thx Mo!
Trying to find cockpit shots of the classics w/wood trim, and I think some even had teak decks.
My boat has side storage bins along the sides of gunnels at floor that are currently wrapped w/carpet (matching what was on floor) and had cabin entry bulkheads that was Formica.
Current plan is to replace both w/stained n varnished Okume mahogany.
I think I’m going to cover the deck w/gray Seadek thats striped to look like planking.
They make wood grain pattern/color too but would probably be too much w/the other wood.
I want to reengineer the cabin entry to add a hatch to aid entry also but that may be delayed a while 😉I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.
I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

...look into what they call "landau" foam. it was originally used on landau tops on cars. it is a closed cell foam, available in a couple different thickness's, the most commonly used is 1/4" on boat interior panels in the cockpit, etc. ...glue it to the panels, then wrap & staple(s.s. staples) the vinyl covers. use NO wood in the cockpit. use pvc board. all different thicknesses available just like plyrot. the thicker the more costly, just like plyrot. its what most boat builders have been using for 20+ plus years now. can be glued, screwed & takes a staple perfectly. no rot. does'nt loose its shape over time. can be recovered by the next guy. should always be used as covered material though due to UV. its available in a few different colors, the most common being white. its available in a few different surface grades. the ruffer the surface grade, the cheaper the price. any color you can use, as its getting covered. also people think that just because its in a boat, that an interior can be hosed down all the time. false. an interior job should be treated the same as the interior in your car. covered, dryed, treated, etc.

...1/4-20 threaded tee nuts, in stainless, is what you use to fasten cockpit interior side panels, along with the pvc board. you drill a hole in the preupholstered side panel for the tee-nut, in the strategic location thats best for your application, that has reach-around access, you hammer in a tee-nut into that drilled hole, and then thread into the backside of that tee-nut, a 1/4-20 STAINLESS stud, of the length you need to go through the boats side interior. 2 1/2 -3'' are most common. you can buy the tee-nuts at any good stainless fastener wholesale supply house, or online...
