Yessir, that’s whats gonna happen to the BP motor. I’m gonna do my best to bulletproof it with the exhaust cooling tricks, top pinned pistons and steel sleeves. However, it’s about fishing time and I want to run my new “bass” boat so working on picking up something to throw together in a pinch. Spent the better part of the day getting a parts # list together for swapping the EFI and cylinder heads across. Got that part lined out finally, now I’m writing a book on all of the stuff I’m going to need to do it all over again plus all of the smaller gaskets and doo dads for when the BP is finished and ready to put back together. Much more fun working on the motor than it is staring at the parts catalog, that’s for sure. Here’s a pic of the boat btw. Came with a 24p quicksilver “chopper” style prop that’s supposed to put it in the 80’s. Prop needs work and gonna try out a skeg guard until I can get a skeg welded up, but she’ll come together in time. Whoever had the boat before the guy I bought it from took care of it. Just glad I found it when I did before the sun had its way with the gelcoat. She oughta turn a few heads on the lake for sure!

Block looks like it needs more then sleeves as well. From the angle of the photo it looks like the ring pieces ate up into the head gasket and scored up the mating surface between sleeve head and gasket. You would have to mill it out and it looks like it might be to much.

Their it might be some room on a bp

essentually your head would never seal marking a dead cylinder.

edit further inspection of the block photo also looks like the head gasket was blown on bottom cylinder piston clean and visible water mark on block across sleeve into cylinder. Theirs probably a lot more wrong the deeper you get. Being it hit hard enough to embed the pieces, crank and bearings possibly rod all shot. And no telling how much water damage if the gasket was blown.

Are you looking at the gasket itself? It’s still on the block.

None of the efi system is going to work on anything but another BP. Look for a 90 and earlier 2.4 200 drop on you can plop on there.

    Or this. https://www.screamandfly.com/showthr...30#post3105030

Yep, just saying look deeper before making a decision. The type of damage you have can mess quite a bit up makes small stuff bigger then original plans.
