We had one of the Mercruiser 1's. Dad bought a 23' V King new with a 140 io. Rigged at Skyway, built right up the river from Dave's. Little shop right up by 79th st. Broke 3 of those lowers pulling up skiers, no more than my sister & me - about 225 lbs total if we both went. Finally repowered with a black.165 io at Skyway, never had another problem.
Had to swap out RH gearcases for LH gearcases in the Proline warehouse back in the 1990's - 100 fricken degrees, motors still on the skids. They needed LH XXL's to ship some boats so Fond du Lac sent me some LH's to convert with - lots of fun!Quote:
