Are you doing a 15" or a 20" ?
For 15" do a search , I know I have posted dozens of pictures in various threads ..
I only have a 15" offshore to compare it to not a 20"'but the clamp itself "looked " slightly different, in the way it was made.
Will have to look again closer, but my 80's model or even 70's maybe has a different anode than his under the cylinder. Heck it might not even be stock.
Number of the clamp is 5465101
Was planning on doing a 20, but I just to stir the pot a little more, I have a cut down old 2 ram clamp that I may end up using. Not quite 15, maybe 15-7/8" or so. If I bolt it all the way down on the transom it looks like it will put the centerline of the prop shaft pretty close to dead even with the bottom of the pad...
I tried searching earlier and came up empty handed, will keep trying...
we used one of those loooong time ago... tha brackets made a change in '93/'94 some where... maybe when big tiller and/or tha drag came out!
and your right 'bout clearance on that cowl pan............
Yeah, the parts I checked were late 80's, still had the skinny tiller. I'll try to look up the fat tiller stuff tomorrow!
you will find a lot of myths in Mercury definitions  Ive discovered some really cool stuff in the last few decades that saved me lots of time and BS when it comes to mercury im nearing the 400 Merc v6 motor rebuild number i may or may not get there at 71
