Can anyone tell me how a 225 promax runs vs a 245 high performance. Stock engines. As for performance on a 1000 pound bass boat hull ? 20'Allison or Bullet. Thanks

There are no 1000 lb bass boats, even if you are driving in your g string and socks. That is a tough toss up though.
MR. Cap. They build comp Allison bass boats and comp Bullet bass boats in the hills of East Tennessee that weight LESS than 1000 pounds. Thank You!
The differences are 225 Pro max is a steel sleeve Oil Injection motor with a rev limit or 6800 in stock form. The 245 is a Non Oil Injected, Nic sleeve motor with the same port timing as a 260 that will easily turn in the high 8's on a 1000 lb boat. IMO the 225 might give you a better hole shot but the 245 will start performing better from 6K on. It all depends on what you're looking for. The Pro max platform is damn near Bullet proof and can last many years where the 245 Nic motor will most likely need a freshen up at 100 hrs or so.
X2^^ The 245 best performance window is 6500-7500
It depends if your looking for a bell ringer and always looking for a little more and can get by with a minimal charging system, or are wishing for driveability and a more everday motor. The 245 will have another 1200-1500 useable rpm on board,in stock form has better internals, rod bearings, connecting rod bolts, light flywheel, more stable one piece exhaust plate. and the pro max is a good 500 hour motor when well cared for and the oil injection removed.
A pro max that hasn't been apart to address the plastic caged rod bearings is a time bomb, pull the limiter and run it like a 245/260 the maintenance schedule is much the same.
I’d choose the 225 PM after modified and good reliable parts put in like Capt . Said

I actually own both and have owned the 245 for 10 yrs . Been a great motor but needs rings after 50-80 hrs run time . The promax we put together to replace my 245 has steel rod bearing cages ,top pinned vertex pistons , lite flywheel with 16 amp electronics , SVS intake , brucato box with a 260 fuel curve . It’s got an unbelievable hole shot and mid range pull ! Better than the 245 . Top end , I’ve yet to see much difference . Down the road the promax should out live the 245 . It took Lots of money And time to build this promax to get it to perform And turn the rpms like the 245 . We’re still tuning this motor on my allison grandsport so we’ll see . For now my 245 is sitting on a stand rebuilt and ready to run should the promax blows up!
