I'm curious to know how you did the flake/gel. Did you use one of those flakebuster guns? Where would someone have to go to acquire that much flake? also, what kind of equipment is required to spray gel? ive read you have to use a cup-gun, did you just thin the gel and use a larger diameter nozzle so you could use the gravity feed gun? thanks.
That flake is awesome.
I bought a smaller Cup gun and a standard siphon style both with larger tips for my up coming gel job. I have seen Dump Guns as well as HVLP guns used for Gel. I am hoping the HVLP guns wont waste as much Gel and Flake due to the lower Operating pressure than the 70 PSI of a Dump Gun.
For Metal Flake I search Ebay for 2 suppliers and mixed a couple colors to come close to the Orange on my CVX-20 I am doing. At this time I have a little over 3 pounds of flake 015-.025

I can only hope my gel comes out half as nice as that Checkmate.
Karsten
so are you spraying your flake while its suspended in the gel or spraying a thin layer of gel, let it tack, then the flake, and then gel over that? I know this is how they do it in the industry.
Humm, Plan is a base coat of RAL2004 Orange colored gel then 4-5 or more coats of Clear Gel mixed with flake until the desired effect is achieved on the upper deck.
Hull for the most part is Fighting Lady Yellow mixed from Neutral Gel, white and yellow pigment.
Finish with a coupe more coats of clear gel mixed with Duratec High Gloss Additive and Wax .
What I have now.

Now let's hope Ronny get's back in here as I still what to learn as much as possible so I can get this done.

No wax required with Duratec Hi Gloss.
Do a test run with your gel to make sure it is compatible with the Hi Gloss.
Murph,
Thanks, I am getting all my supplies from one place....Fiberglast. They recommended the Duratec High Gloss to cut down on sanding and also advised to add wax to any surface below water to achieve Maximum Hardness.
