Flat Earthers... Just insanity.
I saw that Netflix has a new documentary on the flat-earther people, and I decided to have a look at it for laughs. I was just so overcome with disgust that I had to watch it in three separate sittings because of how ridiculous it is.
The documentary claims that NASA is of course involved in a huge conspiracy, and that there is no real, actual proof that the earth is round. Those of us that realize that the earth is a globe are termed "ballers" to them. The show looks at these YouTube self-described celebrities and their effort to 'expose the lies of centuries'. One of the leaders among the flat-earthers says that the earth is indeed flat (naturally) and that there is a wall of ice around the edges approximately 200 feet high.
But nowhere in this documentary are some very, very basic questions asked, such as:
Why hasn't any airplane breached this supposed 'ice wall' around the earth? 200 feet is not very high at all.
Why hasn't any ship encountered this 'ice wall'?
How is your GPS working?
How is your Sirius-XM working?
How is gravity created?
How is an eclipse created?
International Space Station - explain?
The arguments presented are so laughable that it's actually sickening. "Proof" of their theories that the earth is flat is as follows:
One of their members is standing somewhere about 10 or so miles from the city of Seattle. He says he can see the city, but would not be able to if the earth was round, because of the curvature veil effect. Yet, they make no accounting whatsoever of land elevation from the locations or other real factors. That simple examination could very easily be carried out properly on a large body of water, where the surface is equalized.
And so on, and so on, and so on.
How is it possible people believe the earth is flat?
