I called Mercury Marine. These rings will fit 1996 - 2005 2.5L motors.

I purchased these for a 2001 2.5L (EFI) 280 H.P and never used them.

I would run your serial number through the Mercury Marine Parts website to verify they are the correct rings for your motor.
