Anyone have any history on this one?
Wet wet wet wet delaminating junk....for 1500 to 2k it will make a good project if you can do glass work....if not dont bother....
If thats the one i think it is the port side coring is rotted and wet in a large section....the transom was a mess and repaired and reinforced a few times and sprayed with bedliner to hide stress cracks and the boat seemed ridden hard n put away wet....but i havent seen it for a few years so who knows what it is now...
I had this one checked out and it was a NO GO.
Definitely.
I will tell you what I know. First this boat is a far cry from your Rally Sport. I had the boat checked out by Joey Imprescia and his glass guy.
I has a bad paint job in and out. The transom is shot. Without drilling holes didn't check stringers or other trouble prone areas but was told to expect more.
That was enough for me.
The outboard checked out good. The lower unit is the early design and not the Magnum.
Did you ask why this seller is selling after only 2 months of ownership?
i appreciate the info thank you. I did ask the seller his name is joe why he was selling he said he didn’t really even use it. I thought a little odd but I rolled with it. I have heard somewhat of the same but nothing confirmed just hear say. I’ll be passing on this one. The search continues.
I own it now. Guy I bought it from used it one time. When he put it on the trailer he noticed 1/3rd of the bottom fell out! He had it flipped over and repaired. He wasn't aware of how much work it needed and put it up for sale. Transom was mush and held on by the tie bars from the stringers to the aluminum plates on either side of the transom. Five feet of the port side from the stern forward is also mush. 2/3 of the deck is mush. Forward 1/3 already repaired. Floor is wet but solid. I took out 2' of the stringers from the transom forward. Glass was good. Wood was solid but wet. So floor and stringers will need to be done.....eventually. Lots of work!!!
Yes, lots of work but it should turn out great again. Since it is a large redo, I would also flip it over to blue print the bottom and add on a 7 1/2" wide flat pad from 3' back.
Just suggestion, good luck moving forward.
