brt24 I am so envious, If you wouldn't mind helping out a fellow S&Fer but could you IM me roughly costs on boat and trailer like that? As most of us on here the big Skaters, the big v huls are just so cool, now granted I live in Wisconsin and boats like that are not really feasible, but I would still like to know....So since it was obvioulsy a full race boat was it built totally different than lets say their production version? Im not that good with older Mercs are those 225 Offshores? Sorry for the questions but that thing is just killer, what is a projected speed range for that boat with the 2 new 300xs's? Does that boat need the torque advantage of the 3.2 vs. the 3 liter? I was just wondering how Horsepower a hull like that really needs to work efficiently......Thanks for making me drool
Thank you for those kind words !!! Let me start off by saying I'm poor , very poor , but what I do have is a ability , let me explain, I could never ever afford to buy a new boat and to be honest would not want the depreciation , that is why I must refurbish old junk .
The hull is 1988 race / pleasure Kevlar Vinylester , thank god it is , Why ? No fuel tank issues with modern fuel , epxoy and G.P resin have issues . The only way I can afford to be in this hobby is because I do auto restoration for a living and the labor is kind of free . Been boating for 25 years , raced a few years with the OPA and can be found on and around Chesapeake during summer , always @ the INN ,
I owned around 10 boats , always dreaming of a Skater , first it was 21 then a 24 then 28 never pulling the trigger because of high price ,then last April got offered this hull fully rigged on a perfect triple axle trailer minus engines for 23 k . This was perfect for me because since the intro of the 300Opti I wanted to get back to my Outboard days . This boat ran 115 MPH with 3-260 hp , bare hull weight is 2900 , full rigged with 2 300 Optis is going to be 4400 lbs and told by Skater 103 MPH Tops .

Risk Taker was a Canopy Boat, last seen as Phenomenon. Before Risk Taker it was Auto Palace.
I remember racing with this boat on the course. They raced more years than I listed below, but these are the only ones for which I can locate the results right now. I also recall they switched to another hull, towards the late 90s.<O:p</O:p
