Never knew Steve raced an OMC.
I saw him run a Merc against the F-1 V-8's in Cinci Ohio in maybe his last race.[
As I remember it, he donated a kidney to his sister, which ended his racing.
Good people.
Seems he was always sponsored by EZ Loader too.

I had no idea Steve ran an SE boat. I thought he transitioned to the big stuff directly from stock outboards? Is that a Seebold hull? I've never seen a rear cowl like that on a SE hull before. From the WA state El Camino license plate and Gentex life jacket this foto had to be from 70's?
Steve de Souza and his Johnson Stinger2 is a 1975 model year. So I guess Steve raced SE in the mid seventies.
Not sure of the boat builder, maybe a Karelson.
SST 60 Cool picture.

I received for me three very interesting pictures last week by FB Messenger. All three are from 1977 when I raced the Molinari/Volvo Penta-Konig.
The two first pictures are from Alex in Holland. Thank you.
He took the first two picture as a young boy at an international race in Groningen, Holland.
I drove my UIM OE class #40 Molinari/VPK to victory. Ahead of Paul Kalb's OMC factory drivers and Mercury racers.
So happy for the Groningen pictures.

The third picture below is from Oliver. (Thank you)
The picture show Joackim Mareth and me talking in the pit at the Gatow, West-Berlin race.
A few weeks later Joackim Mareth and I raced the Paris 6 Hours together in the #40 Molinari/VPK
Joackim is Dieter Konigs sister son. A great friend and boat racer.

Lars the history you have archived is truly amazing for those of us who were not around back then. Great work and much appreciated. I would talk with Greg to see if you can transfer this entire thread to another medium to preserve it.
