I have a very strong '97 Super Mag built by Mariner Performance. Lower unit issue
Motor is on my Gambler 209, I'm the 2nd owner, just bought the boat in June of 2016 from Original. As tournament fisherman now Captain of my Son's high school team a race engine isn't the best option. This motor is so reliable, and has been an absolute joy not to mention fast, but now that I have had a problem, during our tournament last weekend, I am understanding the complications for a super duty, high power, high rpm motor like this.
Braided line got behind the Tempest 25 and effected the prop shaft seal filling my lower unit with water. Even a Torque Master doesn't last long without lube & it had to have been between my last 2 outings. I checked the lower unit regularly.
However now I'm in a financial situation, having just upgraded my Gambler with dual 12" HDS 3's, Navico 3D structure scan, brand new Xi5 w/Pinpoint GPS, brand new 3 bank, all in the last few weeks so another $3500 for a Torque Master is not in the budget & this engine is just too strong for anything less.
Offering to sell or trade motor, or consider offers for the entire boat with or without electronics keep in mind I just put $7K best of the best latest of the latest on her.
I can take close ups, videos of her starting and running, cover off images, just ask. Boat is still in Gadsden Al but I'm bringing it back to Montgomery Sat.
As you can imagine on a quite morning when I fire that super mag the other 200 boats take note, nothing sounds as good in my opinion but it's just not practical so I want to sell her while she's strong.
Tony
