Ok let me know if you want it when you are ready
It's good to see other Sleekcraft Aristocraft. I couldn't tell from the photos whether your boat was vee or tunnel hull. In the late 70's I had one with a BBC running twin Gale Banks turbocharger setup. It was always broke, but immensely fun when it was running. I sold it in the mid 80's, but have picked up both an OB and jet versions for future projects. I am envious of your engine cover.
Good luck with your project.
I have this project going. 1975 Taylor SJ Removed 455 olds and went with a 496 12:1 650 lift solid roller T ram with 2 750s , Berk JE split bowl with AB imp, droop and hyd place diverter.

Attachment 185117 i just picked up this boat for 300 bucks. no trailer, pump, or motor. i currently have a 1973 marlin that has some rot in the floor which i was going to repair this winter, but i found this hull which is solid, no cracks or rot, only bummer is somebody clear coated the top side which is cracking and flaking, so i am going to sand her down and repaint, then transplant everything from my 73.
just about got the new deck finished
Nice Job!!!! That swim step is not going anywhere is it? You should have built it lighter, then you could have told the fat chicks they can't get in because it isn't load rated for them.
High n dry, you are calling it a Marlin ? it looks the same as a 1973 Wriedt Spoiler I had years ago
Here is my latest project and also my first Jet boat. A 1976 Cobra Jet jet boat. The hull and everything is in great condition and with a good bath and some wax it will look great. What is exposed of the transom from part of the jet system being removed seems solid and dry. I will definitely do something with this but my Hydrostream Vulture comes first.
I already have some good plans for it but it will be a while but you can bet there will be a build thread here when that time comes.

Last time it was registered was in 97 in Michigan and as far as I know it has been sitting ever since then. Heck, even with some elbow grease and a bit of work the interior would clean up really nice. I think someone took good care of this boat at one time considering its age and the shape its in currently inside and out. Just needs a motor (I have a few of them I can choose from) and some pump parts or a whole new pump.
The best part of the whole deal was the price as you see it - $Free.00 :D
Now to find a new jet drive/pump set up for this or the missing parts. I have no clue about jet boats yet so its all really new to me.
hippie, looks like your project is in good condition for it's age, i see some sleds in the background, just started the season here, we have about 4 feet, good early season start. yes it is a marlin, they were built in southern oregon, alot of boats from that era look the same, kind of like all wakeboard boats look the same today
1973 Marlin tarus was my first jet boat. Same color as yours. I still have the 1973 marlin catalog with that boat in it.
V grind them, feather the edges of the grind with 60 grit (just ruff it up) fill with epoxy resin, use tape around the edges where u dont want the extra epoxy, then use everglass fiberfill, then hi build primer and sand
Opps, sorry my page flipped guys
