Not sure of the final model name, but this beautiful Outerlimits boat is on its way to becoming an outboard model
luv the way there is no fiberglass lip between the windshield and the cap

Looks nice but they could have gave it more cockpit room if they moved the back seat back. That is one of the things i like the best about my concept sport deck is all the cockpit room you have with outboards.
Maybe a center of gravity thing. Twin O/B's hanging on the back of a notched hull and passengers sitting in seat way in the back can cause the boat to be unbalanced. I do like the fact that people are actually converting I/O's to O/B's. Great looking boat.
I bet it will run 100 with twin 300r and I would assume insurance might be more reasonable since it is not catamaran?
From the rendering, it looks like they could move the rear seat aft and delete part of the sun lounge/rigging compartment. Michael Fiore (RIP) had a lot of input into the design and bottom of that hull. It's a great running and faaaaast boat!
how is this one different than say, the AT one, or the Concept, or the others that have done the same thing, and made so few of them?
I agree that there have never been any big numbers of twin outboard vees other then the center consoles. I hope the new outboard platform will change that at a faster rate then we have seen previously. Outboards were everywhere and mounted on everything imaginable at the Miami show this year so my guess is that it will be a continued trend.

I think that part of the problem was when Concept did there sport deck the economy was in bad shape so people were not buying new boats. But i really like outboards and the cockpit space to have 7 people on board with still room for coolers. Also the cuddy has a bathroom and AC that you can stay in for the weekend no problem all in a 30ft boat by getting the motors out of the boat. To me it was the best all around for the type of boating i do. It took me 2 or 3 years to find one because the number of units were so low.
I think the SV29OL is one sexy machine!!!
Looks like it will be ready for rough water with that hull design. I think the Tuff 28 ran around 110 with twin V8's. The OL looks like a lot more hull.
Those are the new 650's
I believe the timing is better now than in the past, especially with the new outboard motors that are now available. Also, the SV29 is a sit down, low profile sport boat. In my opinion it would be more in competition with the Tuff 28. Many of the other sub 30' outboard boats had taller freeboard and drop out bolsters (which I prefer over a sit down boat). I think the great thing about the sub 30' outboard V bottom class is the fun factor. It will still put you on edge as a driver and can be fun at speed and easy to handle, clean, tow, etc. When you get into the big V bottoms with I/O power, the shear weight of the boats simply crush rough water and they can become boring to drive (however, I do love the sound of twin big blocks). It also becomes quite the chore to maintain, tow, clean, wax, etc. 35'-40' boats with twin I/O power and they suck down a lot of gas!
The 29 race boat in a kilo run. Not too shabby for a single 525

Whats the gross weight comparison on this 29, twin new large 4-stroke O/B's versus I/O's. Other benefits aside.
I say you throw a single 450 on it and call it a day. Simple all around and still a ton of fun.
But no bragging rights with one, unless it's an 7 Marine 627
Agreed on it being in competition w/a 28’ Tuff and probably nothing else in the twin OB world.
The Concept is way more of a weekend boat.
And I love them.
This and the Tuff are race/poker run boats.
Remember, I think the 28 Tuff w/twin 300 Xs’s ran 118 at Loto this yr.
I think 2 MPH faster than s 28’ Skater there w/the same power.
130 w/twin 350 Rs ???
I love the 29 OL but it’ll take some smoke to get around a 28 Tuff w/similar power.
I think the two are actually quite similar.
I think the Tuff was also drawn up on a clean sheet w/an open check book.
Many yrs later, most are still way impressed and haven’t heard anything but positive.
This Lavey Craft 2750 w/300XS runs in the 90s. He even entered it in an offshore race.

I think we all might find it interesting (and maybe surprising) of the true difference in top end with a single 450 versus twin 300Rs.
Lots of fun and its a very RUFF water capable boat, and a nice FAST lake boat!!
Very fast for the power it has for a 5,000# pleasure boat.Attachment 463967
Thanks again goes out to Pete Boden for a great pic of us at the World Championships in Englewood, FL last year.
The SV29 Outerlimits should run well over 100mph with twin 300's. Beautiful boat.
I am just glad outboards made a huge comeback. That 29 OL looks nice but less sun pad and bigger cockpit would be nicer/ Just my 2 cents
Outboards were never gone or out of popularity... No matter the count or size(s) on the transom, they've always been in vogue. Don't confuse the ups & downs of the economy, and therefore the overall change in marine sales numbers over the years, with the outboards popularity.
Greg, it is a 24 (twenty four). You have a clear issue with Tuff. In your 21-24 list the 24 is KING and you won’t add it.
The 28 has gone 137 wth an 860 mercury. The Outerlimits while pretty is a turd. There are a few around here and the Tuff punishes them.
And to be clear the low freeboard doesn’t disqualify them as being rough water capable, they most certainly are capable of running with anything of the same size, look at the entry. Add ballast and let it eat... you do know the owner was a mercury poster child and world champion offshore racer.
They might have been around just not so much in the 30 and up group, the big 4 strokes have changed many applications, the noise alone put many off.
So what does the pad area look like?
Holy hell!
I had not seen that.
How much fun would that thing be, cruising up beside unsuspecting 28 Skaters?
Being a vee bottom guy......., I might pay too see that.
From what little I know of the Tuffs, they may be the fastest vee’s per power and size that there is???
Seems like they just get faster and faster.
Rob, didn’t they run a 28 w/a 700 something, V-10 Ilmor??
He had a 28 with a 860/#6 drive combo that was gorgeous and a runner.

Gary, I think we need to keep an eye on the "New" Checkmate. They're talking about running a race boat again. If they use the 28' Convincor hull cut down into a sit down boat, add a bustle (and possibly some small vented steps) they could jump into competition with the Tuff 28 and Outerlimits 29...I think they have the knowledge and ability to get it done!!
So what does the pad area look like ... on these Tuffs
Green mold is the 28, black mold is the 24. Decent sized pads on these hulls.
Attachment 464043Attachment 464044
OL 29 doesn't have a pad.
Attachment 464048
Very sexy boats, pad looks like at least 12 inches wide
In that last picture it looks like gel coat do they build the bottom first, I understand working with infusion it would seam to simplify things vs shooting the whole hull at once, he has carved out his own niche.
Watching the offshore racing on the west coast of Florida this year they had some tough conditions slowing them way down and getting airborne with ease, the need to go fast in ruff conditions is not my dream, I like calmer water for sure.
