I have a Rappid Craft Riot with a 15inch 300 pro-max. Love it. If the molds are available somebody should use them.

Sam Baker mgiht be able to help you out.

I have had a couple over the years and still have a Twister with twin 260's. IMO they were awesome boats and I too wondered were they molds ened up.
I always liked Rapid Craft too. If you do a search, there was a pretty good history lesson on them and what happened. Big lawsuit and that was that. I think Sam Baker tried to buy the molds, but I can't remember what happened with that.

Cool brochures, and performance warning. The performance warning must not have been enough, too bad. Just a good guy making some cool boats, not to mention talented.
A couple of us tried to buy them but they weren't available. The bank had them and then by the time I was able to track them down, they were junk unfortunately. They were great boats...not just because of the design, but because of the build. Kirk Davis is one of the most gifted boat builders I've ever met. He did all the gel-work (which was sometimes absolutely unbelievable) and really knew how to build a strong/light boat. There are several 500 pound riots that are still going strong today.
Goofour, based on your avatar picture, I think you have the prototype Twister boat - the first boat ever built. It was built as a solid white Twister. I drove the very first one rigged with twin 225 ProMaxes. We screwed a captains chair into the floor and put a couple of 6 gallon gas tanks in the boat and I went for a ride...the most incredible acceleration I've ever felt. It was a rocket!
I agree I have own a Twister over ten years and with a single 2.5 EFI it has been the best familly boat you can ask for. The bad news is that I took a job in Oregon and the boat has to go.
So if anyone is looking for great deal on a reliable boat that will plain out at 12 mph or scream and fly in the 90's ck the classified hulls over 20'
Ralph I love the low profile boat with the huge outboard look.
I would love a ride in that thing.
That absolutley is heartbreaking to hear about the molds. I was really hoping to hear that someoe had them stashed in a barn in Northern MN or maybe Antioch. I bought my twister as a single engine boat and rigged it with twins. I was fast with one 260 and very very fast with 2. The boat rips up into triple digits so fast and smooth you have to be very carfule not to forget how fast you are really going. I took mine apart a few years ago to repaint it and finaly painted the bottom this winter. Hoping to flip it over this spring and finish. My boat came from Baker Marine maybe Sam remebers this one to Yellow Red and Blue, there can't be that many. Jerry
Pic of my Twister when it was single engine and the other was called an Intimidator. These are horrible pics but all I got
Wow it was cool to see the same hull in red and yellow. I am sure your family enjoyed the smooth flat ride. My kid's hair is permanently pulled back from the ride and wife's fear of flying is cured.
Riveratts rapid looks like my 21 cougar, the hull looks very close, even the graphics on the side are similiar.
:thumbsup:I got one and have had 2. Sold the rainbow color one to my brother and we put a 3.0 on it . You better bring it if you roll up beside it. Mine is my lake boat with a real nice motor on it. Love the lines on. Sold the blue one because I had already owned a boat with the same color scheme.
Found it. Happy reading.........

just picked up a 94 typhoon with 200 mer on it. doing a little work on it. i'm impressed with the build. no wood construction, all very quality work and design. just needs some minor electrical work, and the jack plate needs a little attention. cant wait to get it on the water. was able to track down the guy that built it, he had tons of good info for me about it.
anyone have info or pics? really looking for anything i can find out about this boat
wow there is still some of these boats left i love mine doing some work this winter love to talk with other rapid craft owners mine is 92 with3.6 liter 300 evenrude
Hello everyone.
Just found this old thread and thought I may as well revive it...
Last week I bought a pretty clean 1995 Riot with a 2.4 EFI Bridgeport in northern Arkansas for 6500.00
Here is the link to my photo page. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/tbiostieio4zngh/QlFV3yVc2Z
I found it was owned by a member here, 95RapidRiot who I have tried to contact with no response.
I've had HydroStreams and STV's but have always liked the Riot.. Just never firgured I'd find one close by that was affordable for me.
Nice find. Floor and transom solid? Does the Bridgport run well?
One issue with the Riot that I suggest all owners check: The gas tank sits on the fiberglass/Klegecell floor, when the tank is full and heavy, pounding across the chop, the forces of the water pushing up on the bottom and the banging weight of the tank pushing down can break down the foam core of the Klegecell. In essence, the core in the area where the tank is can basically become hollow then delaminate when flying across your favorite chop. I just 100% stripped my boat down and had it detailed and freshened up at the shop. Mine was starting to breakdown so I had it taken care of.
Remember, these Riots are now about 20 years old and more than likely they have seen their
share of abuse. To fix the area in question is cheap, a delaminated bottom will probably be the end of your boat and could also be painful if not deadly.
The area in question is the 3 foot section where the gas tank lies. The remainder of the Riot build quality is rock solid.
Interesting info,, thanks !! I will have to pull my tank some day and see what I find...
Also, there is wood in the Riots even though many people say there is not. Not much but there is. There are 4 pieces laminated in the hull where the gas tank bolts down as the bolts will pull through the Klegecell and there are also two pieces for the seat bases. All 4 where the gas tank bolts down on mine were bad and I had them repaired plus I changed the way the tank is held in place so that will no longer be an issue. The seat bases I will live with the way they are.
Any opinion as to overall setup ? I read most will porpoise in the 60 to 80 mph range and mine does... It has a 4" Land & Sea plate but I read the hull was designed to run best at speed with no extra setback... Only props I've tried so far is a 14.5x26 Yamaha Drag copy by PowerTech and a 14.5x26 Merc. 4 blade hump-back cleaver... I thought the cleaver would have helped with the porpoise but really did'nt much... My boat is port side steer and I'm surprised the battery is also mounted on the same side... I'm going to move it to the starboard side and maybe farther forward... I'm thinking some weight forward would counter-act the setback if I dont remove the jackplate... Also have been running the propshaft betweeen even with the pad to one inch above... It seemed to porpoise slightly more when the motor was at 1" above then when it was even with the pad... I've had STV's in the past which did'nt do this much if at all... This Riot flys the bow higher with less trim than the STV's did... Either the hull is lighter or it's getting more lift from the air... The dash and seats also seem farther back than in the STV's...
hey just curious about the rapid craft you had. did you like it and what year was your blue one?
Sorry for the delayed response I don't get on here much anymore...
I had a 1995 Riot which was mostly white with a hot pink stripe down the side...
I would not buy one of those again as I think that was a poorly designed hull 4 outboard power as it originally was designed as a jet boat and had the steering wheel on the left side....
No matter what I did with engine height or setback or weight distribution inside the boat it had a bad porpoise between about 60 and 80 miles an hour depending on setup... The porpoise could be driven through but it got rather annoying and I also feel it's a little unsafe...
It had deep tunnels which had something to do with the porpoise problem but on the flip side the deep tunnels made the boat very good in rough water,, it's just not as fast as other halls with shallower tunnels....
Before the Riot I had two STV's both with the 2.5 EFI/260 Merc.... A red/ black/ white 1992 Pro Comp with the ski bottom and a blue /white 1995 STV Euro with the race bottom....
Both of those were far superior in performance and handling to the Riot.... By far my favorite boat I've ever owned was the 1992 Pro Comp...
