I agree with both of you. At 1st I wouldn't wear one much. Now if I line up with anybody or push the boat to the limits its on as well as both kill switchs.
A lot of people dont realize just what can happen and how quick it can happen.:nonod:
:iagree::iagree::iagree::thumbsup:
I would encourage you to preach plenty, I've seen enough of these memorial threads to last me for quite some time.
:iagree:
And it doesn't take long to get used to wearing one.
15% off is a good deal too.
Very, very seldom do I get in my boats without one on, and kill switches teathered...... It used to be I would wear my vest ONLY if I planned to go fast solo or with one passenger and string her out..
BUT-- how often do you get the bug to fly the bow ? ? I do each and every time I get in my botes,,( like I once heard, it's an addiction, and I admit I'm hooked),and usually do when time and place allow. Here's the ticker tho,,,, You running along and that special someone shows up on a nice piece ov' water in thier hotrod,,, whatcha gonna do, call time out until you can git vested up... yeah rite.!
One little story, something that changed my mindset about if it can happen,, it's gonna... I was running the Amite River headed up to Port Vincent last year, solo, about 60ish, on the trim a bit, you know how an Alli feels up and aired,, minding my on business, enjoying the cruise,,I was hanging the inside of right hand curve where someone was installing a boat shed with huge pilings. I was 20 - 30 feet out, no one around..could see around the whole curve.. Instantly my RPM's jacked up, bow dropped and the nose went into the common right hand bat turn,, the nose during my 360 spin went right in between two of the pilings as the rear pulled around upriver as I got off the throttle. Did not hit anything, but was close enough to that wood to see splinters..My motor had trimmed as high as it could go and on 24v trim it did not take long. Come to find out the trim wires inside my stock Merc 3000 shift lever trim button has shorted out causing it to go to ground and trim up. I did not have a vest on at the time. Although I stayed in the boat alright, you can bet yer azz I waz thinking about it then.... I'd rather folks finding my dead azz floating than have to resort to dragging /diving for it.
Be smart, be careful.

just like seatbelts in cars, they're there for a reason!
Great thread..we all have stories about stuff that has happened when we least expect it ....these are great jackets and although I almost always wear a jacket in any of the boats ..these are just so far superior I will be wearing mine more often in place of the normal good neo - foam one I wear . without the leg straps most will just blow off in a situation .
We all argue, disagree, harass and f*** with people here, but we should ALL agree that we should ALL, WEAR YOUR SAFETY GEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lets not forget HELMETS
Not that anyone should wait but between November and Xmas they usually give a 20% discount. Would make a nice present for the loved ones. THats when I got mine:thumbsup:
make sure to let them know your boats true speed!!!!:D
Lifeline makes a great product!!!
I just ordered mine..thanks kent.
where can i get the type like the fwc uses thats the two skinny looking vest type not the full race vest.
I just recieved my two jackets, thank you Kent.
Some of the best high performance boat money you can spend:iagree:
Those are virtually worthless unless you just casually fall into the water , they will rip off your body in a speed related situation and have no impact protection . I bought one and gave it to my dad after I realized it's not for speed boating , but still usefull for casual boating and fishing .
gotcha i like the lifeline and i know it's a must have just would look funny in my open fish wearing one!
Nobody here will think It looks funny!!! Strap one on!
It just means you are smarter than they are .Nothing more dangerous than a flats boat or bay boat at speed ...one hiccup and you're out of the boat . Don't ask me how I know this !!!
got mine today...this thing is nice.. thanks again Kent.
I wear a Lifeline but this Mercury Jacket from Reynolds Marineis not to shabby for the price. $79.00

A couple of months ago i met a friend at the ramp for some testing on his boat. The wind was to strong so he just decided to wear the rings in some. After assureing me he would not run it hard and i hollard at him to put his jacket on (he did) he drove off. As time went by i got concerned because it was getting dark. I called out all boating friends and the sherriff`s office for a search. A fisherman running nets found him sitting on a log and in bad shape but alive. He stearing hose connection broke and was thrown from his boat when it hooked at 70mph. He says that without his life jacket he would not be here today. It`s the only thing that saved him that night. He had an injured shoulder and broken ribbs.
I wear mine now!
