Alright, I'll admit, I find this video to be interesting and very entertaining. Watch the very first one (lower right - "durability")

OMG!!! The Toyota was a POS!! I was simply amazed!
That Yota's bed looks as if it's held on with rubberbands! WTF? I'd buy American over that Jap crap anyway, regardless of the tests.
I really like the new truck, I drove one for a day last week.........I love my 07 F 150 but the new truck is just KILLER !! I'll be owning one as soon as the huge rebates start !! Scott :D :cheers:
Now if Ford would only build some decent engines and some style, they might have something. :D Gotta love that superior jap engineering
Holy crap! The Toyota looked like its frame was made of rubber. :eek:
To me a ford is like a democrap, good out of the gate but falls short going up the hill.
I did get a kick out of watching the Turdyoda, looked like a duck running down the road.
Ford falls short under the hood, I've heard a lot of disapointing things about reliability and lack of power. The good engines were the old 300 inline six and the 351.
The new ['09] F150 has gotten some great independent reviews.
Every since they got "Twinkle Toed" Bill Ford out of there [he is back to leading Gay Rights marches] the new guy has improved the quality quite a bit over the '06-'08s.
There are still questions to be answered as to alternator life and engine/powertrain quality.
Naaah, just get the better truck :D Questions answered :D:p

we just got a F250 to plow snow [school parking lot] and my first impression was the the box,fenders,and sides are the thinest metal I've ever seen on a vehicle.One week old,and already dented!
the 08's are CRAP.... i maintain a whole utility rental fleet and the 08 superdutys we have seen so far are a joke.. the 09's are a bit beefier but they arent as sturdy in body panel construction as the 99-04's that are comming through auction lines and being retired from our fleet.. and the 07-08 interiors dont hold up very well either compared to the older ones in fleet use... to many clips not enough fasteners
V6 diesel? They need to build a good gas V8 first, those 4.6's and 5.4's are junk. I see your from tx, so I'll say this extra slowly, I was being S-A-R-C-A-S-T-I-C. I wouldn't piss on a Toyota if it was on fire, maybe throw more gas on it though :D
Them new GMC's and Chevys have to be the ugliest thing on Gods creation and the dodges look even more bloated then last years version. :nonod:
Il second on the interior. My 08 Mustang 2 tone seats are already showing wear.
The car has only 3000 miles on it... :(
do Dodge's still make trucks?where were they in the comparisons?
Oh Grasshopper the Ford is an all Ford Motor. They have a new 6.8 V-8 coming for the 250's and up also. I think the V-6 is a 4.7L they are supposed to be bad A$$. Meet all the left coast pollution requirements and all. I'll find a link to them. Seen one of the V-6 at the car show, looks like a nice motor.
They are so far ahead, why even bother comparing? It is like http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o...tdeadhorse.gif
I thought you'd say that!
Just played the video,,, friggin too funny.. That poor Toyota sorta reminded me ov' an old girlfiends fatazzed bulldog tryin to run. But on the other hand, she kinda run like that too...:p

I've been very happy with mine. Bought new in 2005 and after 40,000 miles I've had zero issues. The 5.4 has plenty of torque to pull my boat around easily (5000 lbs. plus with fuel).
Love the 2009 trucks. Ford has done a nice job with them.
The back of that Toyota looked like a 300 lb. girl running down the street in a pair of thongs. :eek:
That's funny, I was just talking to a couple of guys who were designing and developing the ford's diesel engine.....and they didn't work for Ford....I'll be sure to let them and any of the candidates I send them this week that they will not be designing and developing a diesel engine for Ford....I'll tell them its for Nissan.
after working for ford and gm ( lincoln-mercury & cadillac) for over 35 years,seeing recalls ,bulletins poor quality issues ,cheep parts ,built from other countrys,failure after failure ,i can say this,i am tired of american vehicles . pricing keeps rising ,,too many "features" that fail over & over,( it keeps me very buisy,for that i am greatfull!!)BUT.... I DONT LIKE TO FIX MY OWN VEHICLES,i would rather spend my time & money on my hobbies,boats & bikes!guess what i drive:D.a car or truck is a necessary tool .also i'm not fooled by informercials... remember the etech one......
The only thing that I noticed that was sort of doctored was that while all four manufacturers produce two v8's, Ford was the only one that used their small 4.7 in the testing. The Toyota 5.7, Dodge 5.7 and Chevy 5.3 were all larger engines.
In the first durability test I don't know that it would have made any difference.
In the cornering, the better center of gravity probably helped the Ford.
In the mpg, well that is on the verge of false advertising.
I wish they had put their 5.4 up to test against the rest. I'm also guessing thats why there were no pulling tests in this supposedly objective test.
seeing the frame moving around in the toyota was convincing enough!!! incidentally, the ford diesels are built by navistar(international), don't know about the new ones
None of the big three specifically design or develop their diesel engines in house, it isn't their specialty, in fact building cars is their specialty, not building parts, they actual "make" very little anymore.
Dodge=cummins
Ford=navistar/international
GM=duramax
Most of the gas powerplants are designed outside as well. Most of the engineers "manage" their particular parts with suppliers doing the actual design and development.
Of course I am painting this with a VERY broad stroke here, but you see the point.
i have 2 fords and two toyota built vehicles; I hate to say it but there is absolutely no comparison. hopefully the restructuring of the big 3 will do some good.
Sorry but I'd STILL rather PUSH my Chevys before I'd drive a Ford... Been there and done that !
my .02
Love my Ford F150!!!!
My room mate in college had an 03 quad cab then an 05 extended Both were very nice trucks.
I have an 07 chevy that replaced my 99 chevy, again I like them both very well.
I've only ridden in a couple dodges and 1 toyota and its an experience I'd rather forget.
my 2005 GMC with the 5.3 is nice, gets 16-17 mpg average. but seems that the power is lacking. it is the 5.3 with the aluminum block also so it supposidly has more torque and HP but seems slower than my 97 vortec and if i remember correctly my 95 seemed stronger. but the 2005 does cruze at 70 mph at about 2100 rpms. i thought the 95 and 97 were alittle higher than that.

The Ford PSD 7.3 was made by International but designed by Cummins (pretty much everything but the old 7.3 block that was beefed, Cummins did heads/turbo/intake/fuel/controls), Ford still saying they designed the 6.0 and the new one last I read, because it was not getting done by whoever was supposed to do it, think International still manufactures them. Last I heard they were going to use a V8 diesel from Range Rover for F150, but they sold them. They did make an old PSD V6 for the F150 and never used it, only used in commercial trucks. IMO they should have put a smaller DI diesel in trucks over a decade ago, if you want to be the leader there is no excuse, but then that is what they do.
I can't agree with the old I6 and 351 being good engines, the chevy slammed them on pretty much any comparison you want to make in V8s. The I6 was ok but lacked on mpg some. Having put a lot of miles on a '97 F-150 and older trucks I can say the 4.6 back then pulled better than a 351, even though it felt slow empty. The 351 was amazingly good at burning gas as was the 5.0. The offroad '97 had better trans programming without doubt, lower gear I think too, I could get 20 on the highway with a 4x4. I drove a new '07 think it was F-150 5.4, it was not too bad empty. I didn't care that much for the new Mustang looking interior far as style.
They do strange stuff sometimes, I drove a trailblazer with the GM I6 maybe a '02. The thing just flew, could smoke the tires all over the place (was a new rental :) ). I thought man would this be fun with posi in a colorado but no they never put it in there. It was a rev happy engine, I could not figure why they built it for rolly polly suv, trailblazers had the most body roll of any vehicle I've ever driven.
