Long Island Mini SOB?

I have been thinking about this for sometime now and thought that I would bring it up to see if there would be any interest in starting a single ouboard mini class in the Great South Bay. I am wish that I could get involved in the normal SOB class but the cost of everything is just too high for me right now. I was thinking that a mini SOB class of less than 10ft made out of mostly stock trihull or dingys (ELI's, Walker Bay's,.......) would be pretty interesting and competitive. I dont mean hydros or tunnels but stock dingys with just about anything for power. This way more people would be able to compete and have a solid racer for a few hundred dollars. I know this is just a crazy idea but I would like to throw it out there. I think we could get a pretty good turn out. What do you guys think?

I think mini Cats and Vs up to 14 ft. would be interesting. Bullet boats, Scat Cats, Vandals Voo Doos Deltas etc....

90 Yamahas on 10 ft. Boston Whalers could get out of control, not what they were meant for....

or 24 ft boats with twins ....

All 24 ft boats? I could have sworn my boat was rigged with twins at the factory. I've seen some people get crazy and rig a 24 ft. Jerry boat with twins too.

That would be cool! I'd be into that I have a 12ft Mini Hawk I'm boulding for my son with a 55 johnson. He and I would love to play with it against other boats.

Figures you guys come up with this cool idea when I'm in Florida.

On second thought, I think Helmut told me he's getting a small inflateable. I better pack the 9.9 with me when I head up to NY. :D :D

Some guy i know bought this inflatable cat that does 45 with a 25 honda... anyways these boats are said to do 70s with 50hp ?? anyone know about these ?

This thing was at the CT river run and appeared to be running very well.

It might be cheaper to go with trihauls and 100 or under cubic inch motors. I have seen a ton for sale and cheap. Rick

Sam, I saw that inflatable in the amityville cut about a week ago. We talked for a while and he said he bought it from a guy in conneticut. He put a tohatso on it. it still is pretty fast.
