My new Dillon Laker SC12 Tunnel!

Like the Glen-L Bullet that I made earlier this year, this one took me 8 weeks to build. I finally got all my decals so it's photo-worthy. I've only had it out 4 times, so I haven't much adjustment time yet. But I got it up to 44mph without trimming it yet. So the trim goes on this weekend. I should get around 50mph, which will be plenty for me in this little 12 footer. It just begs you to whip it around a corner.... I'm looking at doing the Glen-L Tunnel King next. I have a 115hp Rude ready for it.

Looks good nice work now a 15 inch stinger would be bad to the bone. I've been playing with 2 cylinder omc's and the 60hp 80-84 are really strong.Rick

Wait until you raise the motor to the right height with a cleaver. Thinking you should be in the high 60s and maybe more

I would love an SS Stinger. But SS anything in mid range power is not easy to come by.

I know it's dressed up like a jet, and this is scream and fly, but I'm not sure I'm ready to fly yet.:) 50 should hold me for awhile.
I built mine a little beefier than the plans call for because I run 260lbs. So it's not really a race boat. But there's a guy in Australia who has only a 25hp outboard on this model that runs 55!

So I got an OMC 11 1/4" x 19"P cupped SST prop and it's slipping like crazy. Way more than the same sized AL prop. Revs jumped from 5700 rpm to nearly 7000 at 46 mph. No other changes were made. How can that be? I thought that cupped would hook up better.

A cleaver is usually the go to for tunnel hulls.
Ron Hill helped me a lot with small props.
Ask him for a Jeff Brown cleaver.
For me, it was a thing of beauty.

at 260lbs. I'm thinking a raker or signature would work! rpm doesn't sound right for the sst maybe the hub is shot! with that short of boat and that much driver I'd think you want to keep the bow a little higher,your cg is way forward of what those like and one little hop could make you sub. my.02

The stainless OMC props for that motor are crap!

The all do that if you get them close to the surface, and or run trim.

Clamp a 2x4 in a vise and hammer as much cup as you can, into your 19” aluminum.

If you’re careful, you can beat a lot of cup into it.

I just did it to the same prop and made a huge improvement.

Building a boat from wood is one of the most rewarding thing I’ve done.
(and I think that every time)

And yeah, at that weight, it will take different set up than for a skinning guy.
Especially as far forward as you sit in that boat.

If it’s not already, I move as much weight to the transom as you can.

Cleavers don’t like pushing weight.

Id go after as much blade area, rake and cup as you can find.

Those are killer motors but finding decent wheels for them sucks!

I’ve done several and the home modded OMC alum props have always been the fastest.
