I’m sure they did Pilgrim. But you have to remember there were Merlins and Allisons being weighed in for scrap in the 1950/60’s. Fighter and bomber aircraft were “surplus to requirements” after 1950. I can remember seeing them stacked up at my local scrapyard . On sale for £25 apiece . [a months pay for a hard working baker]. Hells teeth, i didn’t even have ambition in those days , just a RED TRIUMPH SPEED TWIN [FKY 92].
I tell you——that was cheap propulsion in those days —— with all the spares you would ever need — war office had a never ending supply —. ROLLS ROYCE were still building motors for fighter planes up till then .
after 70 years not a lot of anything of that era skulling around ———- 1928 Red Label Bentley was £120 with no takers . Vincent Rapide ,brand fire new £275 and a waiting list ! Different era —-different values, people had respect for everyone else—- none of this PC SH-T going around.

After showing them all how to play BOULES and actually winning the day , a glass of bubbly slid down nicely on Father’s Day .
The only OFFSHORE race boat powered by ALLISONS was built by JUNIOR Gar Wood—1956??
Duff Daley drove this one at one of the REUNIONS Jackie—and promptly sunk it—remember???Attachment 489139

Thank goodness Unlimited Hydro went for the Lycoming Turbines.
Allison collectors I am sure are happy.

In the early 70s we were doing a fire inspection of a building at Miami International Airport. Against one wall was a stack of crates containing Rolls Merlin engines. I don't recall how many there were but it was more than a few.
