...symetrical "V" shaped sponsons versus the more popular asymetrical sponsons?...when you reference this deep V tunnel?

incredibly, mercury's,"six man pit crew", miraculously repaired the damage to the boat and the lower unit damage in 20 minutes flat! But, by then it was too late. Omc's cesare scotti, a "tough little italian marine operator", had taken the lead for good!

free of the chop - for power, scotti had dual evinrude x-115's bolted on his transom. For a hull, he had one of the new, "tunnel hulls" designed by his countryman, angello molinari.

Willabee carried TWO 70 pound UNITS down to the beach and single handed replaced them???

We ran two of the triples at Havasu 69. Petty in the blue one pictured previously and Pruett in the yellow one pictured below. This picture is Merten at Parker 70, but it's the same boat Pruett ran at Havasu 69 .....

I did run through the sand, up and down the hills with a pair of 64 lb BP lower units from the parts truck to the beach for somebody in need, don't recall who. However, when I arrived at the boat in distress, I was totally out of gas and needed help installing those fragile little things! :D

How did you find your way to boat racing? The world of boating came to me by association.

Roy Ridgell, my dad, drank a pitcher full of boat racing — offshore to Bahamas & co-drove with Bill Sirois at Paris. And with him, I got to sip from a small sample-size cup of boat racing experiences.
The Ridgells involvement started with Roy senior. Granddad like most racers started racing outboard powered hydros. Roy senior built some of his own boats in his home garage. Therein by association his sons Robert and Roy, also got involved with boat racing at an early age.

This route (like for many other families too), became a family sport. And with reflection, I am grateful for the opportunity to have experience the sport of boat racing, and with the people involved in the sport. And in memory of my late dad, on his November birthday, I (and I think I also speak for my brother Timothy) say thank you, “thanks for the memories.”
