made more than a few Kissimmee Boat-A-Cades on the old river. the real reason they straightened it out was so they could control the water level for the cattle ranchers. you would not believe the difference in the amount of grazing land was lost every year during the rainny season as almost all the land bordering the river was pasture land. just another boon doggle by the government.Quote:

EVINRUDE ‘FISHING SAUCER’ DREAM BOAT
In the 50’s and 60’s, Evinrude produced a string of seven “concept boats” (aka Dream Boats) destined for display at National Boat Shows across the USA – all designed by Evinrude’s stylist Brooks Stevens. (photo lower right) This futuristic Dream Boat made its first showing at the 1957 New York Boat Show. (Boat Show display concept upper right.)
Known as the Flying Saucer Boat, it didn't fly however, but it did sail, albeit briefly on the Milwaukee River (in photos). Built at a cost of $14,000 (Adjusted for inflation that’s $160,160 today), the flying saucer-like craft was powered by two 18hp Evinrude Fastwin outboards located in the plastic domed modules on either side of the saucer. Capacity was up to eight passengers with seating around a circular center module. The center antenna mast sported a folding umbrella-like sunshade.
The saucer, without doubt, was one of Brooks Stevens most radical designs ever. Like many of the Evinrude concept boats, including the well-known Heli-Bout helicopter-like boat, it was intended to encourage boat builders to think outside box. Possibly not this far out, however!

The T*A*R*T team tested at Scotti’s prior to the 1972 Paris race. I had an earlier Molinari that Scotti once drove & Geoff Briggs drove our Sid-Son. We raced the local marathon with our Kenosha production built Johnson Stonger GP’s. After the race we installed our Paris powerheads then began the trek to Paris from Como through Switzerland , Southern France to Paris. After the Paris race we spent time at OMC’s Brugge, Belgium factory:Raceboat shop then traveled through Holland, through East Germany to BerlinQuote:

Did the OMC motors suffer from the swivel pin and motor mount issues that plagued many of the inline Mercury motors. I ran a very robust thrust bracket on every boat I owned in order to avoid this.
