Jim Nerstrom
Cees Van Der Velden, loved the sport and never quit promoting. Embraced the safety cell idea of Chris Hodges and took it to the next level. Lots of our friends are still with us because of his efforts.
RIP my old friend .

Bill Vogel set his E Production Hour record in the same race I set an SD Hour record. He lapped me in the last lap of the race and gave me a thumbs up as we ran down the long back straight. That little Delta was the best running E production boat I ever saw. Part of the reason I gave up trying to run a Mercury in that class.
Jimbo and Barry Woods used fold down clamshell helmets for years before changing to full bucket helmets I barrel rolled once in a capsuled boat and the rescue diver thought I was panicking. I was holding on to the guy to scratch my nose to get a water droplet off. Try doing that in full bucket helmet while swimming? LOL
Not sure what Salabert, Renato and his brother are looking at..
My best guess..a great looking female..https://static.xx.fbcdn.net/images/e...1/16/1f923.png..or an OMC racing outboard..!!

Raised at Lake Hollingsworth back in the early 70s myself. Add an orange Molinary with a blue striped twister raced against a felon named Dick Hunt, who was running a 16 foot Al Martin sprint boat with the blues strike twister on it and what was then UJ class. Help Dick set a record for the class at the time couldn’t quite catch him. If you finished second to Jeff Titus, you were doing good because he was one tough customer on the racecourse ranks right up there with any drivers from South Florida, including Jim Hunt, and several others homer Green included. I think I do remember the lawn boy boat, but then again that was in my drinking days! Lol
I have never seen Renato in a Johnson racing jacket before..https://static.xx.fbcdn.net/images/e...1/16/1f923.pnghttps://static.xx.fbcdn.net/images/e.../1/16/2764.pnghttps://static.xx.fbcdn.net/images/e...1/16/1f44d.png..we all know he was faster with Evinrude..!!

What were the differences between the UIM SE and OE classes? It seems that both were different than APBA SE. The clamp bracket and swivel pin assembly on that 49in Mariner doesn't look anything like the one on my 49in Mercury.
UIM SE class Max 850 cc production outboards, homologated minimum 1500 units made.
UIM OE class Max 850 cc was the only restriction.
Meaning you can use any mid section etc.
