Yes..We lost Scotti in Paris 1974 but OMC did have a lot of Scotti-Craft boats available..but they where not up to date 1975.
My guess is OMC put Jimbo in the beautifully painted new #19 boat built by Carl Stippich instead.
Pretty sure when Cees Van Der Velden came onboard OMC racing early 1975 as a replacement for Scotti he had a plan to enter the tunnel boat building business.
His first Velden racing boat was ready to race in Cardiff September 1975..and winning the first race with his own new boat was pretty incredible..
Cees established himself very quickly as a winning boat builder.
This #12 UIM ON class boat is Cees new Velden in Paris 1975.
Barry Woods was his co-pilot..
If i understood it correctly Barry use the be the Scotti-Craft US distributor..

Not sure who #522 is but its the same Carl Stippich built boat Jimbo raced in Paris 1975.
My guess is this is from 1976 with the new Johnson V6 RS

If I'm not mistaken I think it was Carl Stippich that built the Merc factory team Twistercrafts.

There might be a VERY interesting story behind this hull as the paint scheme is the same as what the Merc factory team were using in 1975 on their Molinaris;

That racing paint scheme was introduced in the 1973 Paris 6 Hour race. Angelo and Renato Molinari shared a common painter.
The Merc racing team in Como Italy had about 3 to 4 new pickleforks being prepared for the upcoming Paris 6 Hour race.
The last picklefork boat built for the Paris race (the Black boat) was Renato & Bob Hering's boat.

I remember the Black boat with the different racing colors entering the bottom floor of the Como shop for rigging.
It looked fast just sitting still.

BTW the boat 190 has the Italian flag colors on the boat cowling.

I really don't know why the #19 boat built by Carl Stippich raced by Jimbo in Paris 1975 was painted the way it was.
I know a black race boat is a pain in the ***..
Learned the hard way..I ordered my black UIM OE class Molinari in the winter 1976/77..I only got one yellow stripe..ordered three but Renato said I only prepaid for one..
One thing for sure..My black Molinari was extremely fast..:)

Like I surmised there might be a very interesting story behind Jimbo's #19.

I thought Carl Stippich built hulls exclusively for Mercury and I thought there were only 4 hulls built - none of them pickle-forks...the most famous was 'Little Red' that Bill Seebold drove with T2, a T2X and a T3.

But what I find interesting is the paint scheme that matches the Merc factory boats of the same time frame.

Here's my 'conspiracy theory'...maybe it's not a Stippich hull and OMC were playing 'mind games' with Mercury.
Maybe Willabee could supply the answers !!

By the way Lars your black Molinari does look VERY fast !!

Thanks..my black Molinari was extremely fast..probably on of the fastest UIM OE class boats I ever raced..but the high horsepower Konig was not very dependable..:)

Lars.... Jack Leek ordered a new boat from Carl Stippich for Jimbo to test and evaluate.
It took longer than anticipated to be delivered. By the time the boat was rigged the Paris Race was approaching and Jack made the decision that Jimbo would drive it at Paris.
John Hervat was charged with painting the boat. Because the boat looked so much like Renato’s new boat, John said he was going to paint it like Renato’s.
They are so similar it is difficult to tell them apart. The boat is wood.
Jimbo rigged it per Jack Leek’s instructions. Geoffrey Briggs was the co-driver. About 4 1/2 hours into the race Jimbo was driving, and running in First Place, and the engine broke.
Lars assessment of the cross flow engine configuration is 100% correct. The boat was returned back to the U.S. and was assigned to another Team since it was a top of the line boat.
Jimbo doesn’t know the history after that.

522 was Bucky Morris number. I think he was from Charleston S.C. and raced Mercs in the early seventies. He later switched to OMC. He was one of those local racers who always had top notch equipment.

One more thing about the #19 boat Jimbo drove in Paris 1975..
Ended up at the front page of a Magazine in Italy..

The black OMC owned boat built by Carl Stippich was back in Paris 6 Hours 1976. Now with race #87 and a Johnson V6 RS engine. Not sure who the two drivers was.
More interesting in this picture is the #88 next to #87..
Its Bob Hering racing for OMC. His Molinari is also using the new Johnson V6 RS.

I am sure the Stippich boat was driven by Sanders and Posey we were told the Stippich boat was built in the Bronx. 2.0 litre looper powered.

Drivers for the Stippich, #87 at the 1976 Paris race, was Johnny Sanders and Geoff Briggs…..with a Johnson.
