Jackie- thoughts and prayers are with you- missed you at OFF
Thank you one and all for all your kind thoughts-------nice to know you've been missed------what was that Carley Simon song----------YOU GOTTA FRIEND. Funny ------takes a tragedy for you to realise just how many friends there are out there-----I always took them for granted----that's because you were there !
First reaction at hearing of Matt's passing was Relief, it was like someone lifted the hump I'd been carrying for the last year, how bad is that ?
Not long to go before the nightmare is finally over and we can get back on the helter skelter we call life.
Have no projects or concepts in mind-------will let the dust settle-----see which roads are open, which transport to take------the world's a stage and we are merely players, time to start acting ?
Just about finished the COSWORTH ------took it all apart and started from scratch.
Wasn't that happy with the mount, so I did a custom trailer, wire wheels, the whole nine yards, even made the tyres. T section alloy framework, stainless mudguards, and all the nuts and bolts are stainless, not too shabby at all.
If I get time I'll post a piccie or twoooo.

Definitely the " dogs cajones" now, looks like it belongs to somebody instead of stored down in the shed.
Think this concept might just sit alongside the real thing until I can find a home for it-----this one should go to the guy who brings the original back to life.
Did an earlier model that got left out in the rain and is pitted to buggary------might just do that tomorrow.
Trying hard to keep busy this next week, getting hands and mind to coordinate while your hearts not in it is proving difficult !
Holy Smokes Jackie, The Cosworth is incredible. You just keep getting better.
We all missed you at OFF, but we are thinking of you and Jill.
Please pass our condolence to her. Our Love - Steve & Iris
My chest just puffed up by four inches Stavros, sometimes it's nice to know somebody out there likes the stuff I do-------ya know-------"The tricks retired boat racers get up to"!
What happened to the Roller and the Wing ? Did Rich ever get it put on a mount and presented, I know there was some damage in transit--------that's the last I heard of it.!
Roger got his socking great Wing and Mark got the little sprint Mollinari.
Betty posted the pair of "Rude" powered Mollies to Schubert.
R/J got in touch with Betty so he should have his "Wankel" anytime soon.
Did you manage to flog off anything at the CNA dinner on Friday night?
Thanks for all the support both you and Iris have given us the last year, it's been much appreciated Steve.
Think I must be suffering from mad fits of depression ------found myself spinning up a base for a cast brass golfer I picked up for nixie plonk ( nothing ) at the scrapyard.
Pinned a brass plate to it and etched "OFF 2016" on it--------what kind of fruit and nut does that then? Only four days after OFF 2015.
?
Once Rich has his OFF---2016 site up and running I'll post a piccie of the trophy!
Attachment 331890Attachment 331891Attachment 331892
Told you i got busy for a while-------first golf trophy for next years "DO."
Think this is a Bobby Jones casting----longest drive?----closest to the pin Putetre?
Well, as I suspected, nobody that interested in next year.
When you get to our age, the day before is time enough.
Close enough is good enough in horse shoes and hand grenades !
Did the car boot sale at Ford today, well, it is rent day, Thursday , and I'm not exactly rushed off'n my feet this week.
Finally got the date for Matt's Funeral------next Wednesday ------then it's all over but the crying.
Time to take five, step back two paces and look at the options.
First up will be a long holiday----just me and Jill---- on our own (apart from five thousand other passengers).
Couldn't settle in the shop today, picked stuff up and put it down again-----Warbys "Spirit Of Oz" finally got binned, was never that happy with it and couldn't see where it was going----was always too big, never felt right.
Played with the "MALIBUSTANG " ----stripped the wing back to bare timber-------sanded all the molasses off'n the fuselage-----gave it a couple of Karnuba wax coats------it's looking better already, maybe I'll paint the wing silver with a polished chassis ------buffed up the exhaust-----at least that looks the piece .
Just noticed I'm rambling again----need some zuzzz time, night all, MYGGWY .j.
Been one of those days I don't want to talk about, everything I touched turned to worms.
The feckin bear got a lot more than his fair share today----
Must try harder tomorrow. G'night, MYGGWY .j.
Jackie---after the last 14" snow--temps in the teens--I locked the 'MALIBU' in the hangar--loaded the trusty Benz--and ended up in 'palm trees and lemon bushes'----G

Realized how lucky I am -----was -1 last night, lots of wind, promise of snow flurries------I'm as far south as it's possible to be without going "abroad".
If I jumped into the trusty Lexus and tried to find palm trees and lemons -----closest place would be North Africa ------think I'll stay in bed this morning !
Jackie - I have been fascinated with your Cosworth creation on the trailer. Your attention to detail is over the top...!! How long is it from the prop to the tongue of the trailer and what would you estimate that it weighs?
Gene - You need to put those frozen kids in the Benz and point it to the land of the palm trees and white sand, where the kids can drive karts all year long - The Sunshine State :thumbsup:

---and the MALIBUSTANG----
I had to blow this up---for all to see!!!
http://i65.tinypic.com/2z66log.jpg
Gene, I have to tell you, I feel honoured and humbled that you put some of my concepts on the "TRICKS" thread.
was going to put a winch on the jockey/winch block but never quite around to doing it.
Bit like the road to hell------full of good intentions.
Went back to the "MALIBUSTANG" made the mount, got it half right,!! Spun up a few "SAMs" and a couple of "stingers", just have to mount them under the wing and stitch the radio mast on it.!
Oh yes, I forgot to tell you Gene , I painted the wing silver, the mohogony wing was never going to be anything other than a misfit, then polished the oak fuselage.
Once it's all cobbled together, I'll post you a piccie------not a lot of Malibu left in her my friend------there is a hell of a lot of -----"MUSTANG" though.
You will like the caption I gave her.
Was going to Clive's Birthday bonfire and Hog Roast last night but got smitten by the dreaded " Lurgy" ------Puke and Squits. -----took to my bed for 24 hours and felt like a dogs dinner. Gently eased my way into the shop for an hour late morning. Lost 94 percent of my hearing-----Jilly is now shouting at me, won't be long before she starts throwing things.
Got a dilly of a headache, might get back to you later in the day. Enjoy the rest of the weekend------mine got screwed!
Just when you think things can't possibly get any worse, it does, and in spades,.
We were due to bury Matt on Wednesday, meanwhile his wife suffers a heart attack and gets taken to hospital----------deciding whether to do a by pass. Or a stent job.
A number of phrases come to mind, never rains but pours, Somedays you eat bear!--------
Spielberg could not have thought up this scenario.
Workshop opens early Monday morning------have to find a bit of sanity somewhere!
mark and Vicky flew in from Florida for a weeks holiday on Saturday. Temperature dropped down to five below -------swears he's never leaving Martin County again.
could possibly get back to you later, has to be some good news-----I used up all the bad news.
Tell me Rich, you ever get the Rolls Trophy repaired and presented, or is it not what you wanted?
Never had any feed back from the Tavares dinner-----did it happen?
Roger told me he got his big wing back home safely.
Still waiting to hear from R/J if the ROTORY arrived in one piece.
Nobody could find Geoff Briggs so I told John Schubert he could give his grandson the Molli/Rude.
Finished the first attempt on the COSWORTH ------took it all apart and started afresh-----mounted it on a solid 3X3 alloy billet------looks half presentable now.
Maybe post a piccy tomorrow if the feckin camera hasn't died on me.
Jackie- your work is really brilliant!!!!!! You my friend are a talented craftsman
Jackie:
Your concept hasn't arrived yet. If it doesn't show up in the next couple of days, I'll call Bette again.
It looks OK in a picture but don't look into it too deep, they are not scale models by any means, just an old farts concept of things in today's world, jest trying to keep the mind active and the Athritis at bay, but thanks very much for the compliment, it means a lot ! Jack.
Jilly had had enough of the sign language by eight o'clock this morning and booked me in to see the doc at 10-20.
Arrived at Ten just in case he wasn't busy-----bloody waiting room was full of wannabes waiting to talk nonsense to me.
Old man Cronan tried to strike up a conversation with me -----gave him short thrift, pointed him towards the old chap in a zimmer!
Mr. Parkinson sidled up next to me and whispered in my ear something I didn't understand-----told him I was here to see the doc about my deafness, that really pissed him off, he went away muttering somethings about illegitimate Yorkshireman!
That nasty old git Altzhymer was recruiting but a kick on the shin was enough to see him on his way.
Absolutely no sign of the reaper------he's moved on to warmer climates .
Doc gave me some oils and antibiotics to squirt in there-------result-------deaf as a post!
Jackie - My father, Gerry, celebrated his 91st birthday with our family on Friday. The highlight was seeing your 16" Sprint on the dining room table, which of course prompted a trip down memory lane. Dad watched you race in Valleyfield and Parker, was at every race of mine in NA and several in Europe. Like you, his hearing is pretty much shot (holding boats in place during Lemans starts didn't help ), but isn't too worried about it... just tells us to crank up the volume. In any case, he'll be sharing your artwork with us - the race never ends at our place!

Hey Gene, look what's happening to the MALIBU------when I started farting about with a head full of ideas, the schoolboy in me took over and I loaded it with artillery . 6 cannons ----2 sidewinders, 4 SAMs -------next up is the vapour trail if I can get my rear in gear long enough.
Thats when it became the "MALIBUSTANG "
My sons been over here for four days already and I still haven't seen him ( just 25 miles away).
He has 3 days left, Wednesday is Matt's funeral so that leaves 2 days to catch up on his life so far this year------Where have all the flowers gone?-----
I have to get off this roller coaster at the next stop and take a breather, the damn things heading out of control and I'm getting tired, dafter than a donkey-----deaf as a post----wiser than an owl----crankier than "Willabee" ( but that's up for discussion)------still managed to ride Matt's mountain bike down the lane-------coming back was a stone bitch, gave me palpitations. Even the 24 gear settings were of little help-----so I sold the damn thing to my neighbour .If it hasn't got the Lexus badge on the front, I'm not riding it.
Another friend Keith, lives across from me repaired the Miller spot welder----it's up and running again and I got a rake of concepts just needing a squeeze.
I dislike bad English and bad spelling so I just read this through and realised I'm rambling like a looney-----time I wasn't here----God Bless and MYGGWY .J.
Chucking it down this morning------Murphy throwing herself at the French window demanding entry------serves her right for being an all nighter.
Got a multitude of jobs to finish, a son to see and an idea forming, it's 5-30 am and time to start the day-----things should be back to near normal around the weekend-----if I strike it real lucky!
Jackie: I notice 2 things when I looked at your pictures.
1. You just can't get away from a "Rotary". Hint, look at the matt.
2. It looks like the cannons will shoot off the prop?
Have a good day!
Watermark;
Not only is Gerry a great father for you, he was ALWAYS your #1 fan from a Chekmate 13 to your V8 days.
Great picture!
Ok, so I got a ROTORY cutting mat Johnno-------if I remember rightly all ROTORY means is circular motion-------turning----??going round ?
Your the engineer------I'm the eighty year old kid with the cannons and I was under the delusion that the engineers had synchronised the rounds to fire "BETWEEN" the blades? Is that too complicated for engineering geeks?
I needed to make room for the wing tanks, -----the "EXCORCET" missiles and a couple of 500 pounders, 4 incendiaries , 2 flame throwers and a couple of stars, maybe a few stripes, then of course I'd have to do the open jawed shark --------needs a bit of red white and blue somewhere along the line! You Don't think I'm maybe heading a tad O/TT do you?
Mark came down to see me along with Simon, my grandson, so I treated them to lunch at the Holly Tree, my local pub. They each had a "PLOUGHMANS" and me myself had Scampi and Fries, unfortunately I've lost most of my hearing which the two of them thought was hilarious, had the piss taken out of me mercilessly .
Tomorrow will be a bad day. All round. After that it can only get better! MYGGWY .J.
see Jackie- I rest my case--your work is more than just a few pieces of wood or metal

Jackie. I searched high & low on eBay & other hobby sites & can't find a propeller the diameter of the ones you have in this photo & others. Where did you get it so I can source two for the models you did for me.Also, a question for you. The two stands that came with the models allow the skeg to touch the surface. Is this the way they were made or for some reason they got switched with someone else's models?
This is the prop & post showing the correct size prop
The beautiful props Gary sent me were too big, even for the V8 and Rotory, but he sent me a couple of smaller ones that work just fine.
Gary Stray is my grandson by marriage to Louise Wilson-------he runs GIECO racing------he also sent me a huge selection of props for the "Concepts"------all long since used. Average cost of these props were $25 apiece--------remember most of the stuff I do has twin motors----any old fart can soon work out how much just the materials cost.!
I had better days in my life than today!
My sister Ange and husband Clive decided Jilly and I should not drive on our own to the crematorium, so they picked us up around nine and we motored slowly to Findon to join the eighty plus folk that had gathered to pay their last respects to Matt.
It went as funerals do "according to plan".
Jilly lost both her boys in the space of forty days------both in their mid forties----left five kids fatherless and two widows.
Sometimes life is difficult to understand, there is no rhyme or reason to it, try and work it out and you wind up a basket case, it's a total enigma !
Like I said------I've had better days !
Jackie, I've contacted Terry Topjun (he did the 1/8 scale diecast outboard motors - Alterscale) and he's got some props left over that I am trying to get for you. Terry wasn't at home when I emailed him, but I'll follow-up with him shortly.

Thanks a million Roger-----I keep scanning the R/C columns on EBay but haven't really come up with El Dorado yet. There's the odd one or two for sale here and there------looking for the old chap that's retiring and disposing of everything he owns for ten cents on the dollar.
Then again, I've always been a dreamer!
Remember the old adage "Today is the first day of the rest of your life" well, I am beginning to feel like that.
Did not sleep at all well last night, was mentally overtired but physically fit and the body part won, it's rent day , Thursday again, so I'm going to the car boot sale at Ford to shuffle around and see what I can find, no rain forecast and not too cold.
Let you know how I fared later-----have a nice day.
Two wooden spokeshaves, two 12" steel rules and a new Scular switch for the banbsaw I picked up a couple of weeks ago, a 15 oz, gorilla super glue and came home with change out of a tenner, can't be all bad.
Turned up an axle and damn near finished one of the wheels for the next concept-----people seem to like boats on trailers specially if they fit the boat,. Needed to slip into easy mode, something I didn't have to measure and check, I can do trailers with my eyes shut, but it does keep me busy and I don't need to think.
Only piccie your likely to get any time soon is the "MALIBUSTANG"-------haven't got the steel for the vapour trail yet--------this is not an original idea of my own,, it's something I snitched from the memorial spitfire down in HAMBLE.
Nap time.
Roger & Jackie,
I don't believe that the prop shaft hole is large enough for the shaft sizes Jackie uses or enough material to allow drilling it to the correct size. Scale a bit off as well.
Happy Thanksgiving!
I guess it isn't for you Jackie, but nevertheless have a great day.
Roger, where did you get the miniature Kapok racing lifejacket? I have a 55H, 75H, 30H & 55H with stacks as well as the offshore merc. No V-8 OMC
John
Hi Jackie: So sorry for your personal losses and for the delay in responding, but it has been hectic here as well. Unfortunately, we were not able to incorporate the trophies into the CRA/OFF cocktail reception due to the late arrival of the items. We will have the big trophy ready for the next event.... It is beautiful and I will be able to fix it shortly and mount it on a base with proper plaques, etc. Betty also gave me all of the other pieces and I will put them up for auction at the CRA spring event, as you requested. In the meantime if anyone wants an original OMC Rotary sculpture please PM me.
Check will go out next week.
Best wishes my friend and Happy Thanksgiving to all.
