Those 2's can actually be setup to run awesome (well, awesome as far as a single cyl 2 hp can get I guess :rolleyes: :D). It's all relative ;)
They frequently blow head gaskets because the H/G does not have a fire ring - just gasket material. If they run even somewhat warm, poof, gasket toast and they run like crap (but they will run for ages like this). Gasket was only 5 bucks or so last time I checked, and 4 bolts !
The other thing is, the fuel tanks were usally steel and tend to rust inside, and the internal filter is too coarse to catch the ****, so it ends up in the carb. There's a tiny BOMB inline filter you can buy to put in the line to deal with this problem.
