Better piccie of the Cleopatras Barge Concept!
Me myself have very definite views on what is and what isn’t art!
Guy called PHILLIP MORRIS fernagled PERFECT models of the worlds best offshore powerboats—— does it with a three Dee printer.
Finished product is exact replica and perfect—— about ten inches long and sells for under £100 !
My problem is, not an ounce of skill—- feeling or love goes into it—— how is it a work of art ???
It certainly LOOKS the biz—— I get all out of shape when I see them!
Tried to explain it to Christian Toll—- I did him a concept with three of his offshore rigs——- off the top of my head, with a spokeshave , a picture and a memory!
Ones a dinky toy—- the others art—— you may not agree— but I’d like to hear from some of you exactly what you think !
No painting can ever be as perfect as a photo——- maybe framing a phoggie is the way to go?

Christian Toll—— Mike Bontoft ( current owner of Dry Martini) and yours truly!
Thats the concept I did for Christian—— May not be to scale—-or deadly accurate—- but a lot of heart, soul and memory went into producing it!
Copy or Creation...we know which is the art sir.
Crisis, will you please drop the “Sir” bit——- it’s an AMERICAN thing!
English SIRS are either knighted personel —— customers in a restaurant being served by a waiter—- or a barber asking if I would like “something for the weekend”!
I was called Jackie as far back as I can remember—— given name is Jack, that suits me fine.
I have been called several other names—— none of them very complimentary—- I just don’t feel comfortable being called sir, especially when I didn’t earn it.
But thank you for being kind— J.

Heart of a roller—— two weeks work that nobody sees—- floor pan— axles — bearings and tyres—- Springs. Etc—— over a thousand different operations already—- so—- what else would you be doing on a rainy day in West Sussex ? It’s a “ just in case” anyway—— bit ike the HS2 railroad——- spend 8 billion—- just in case they decide to finally build it!!!

Jackie's Concept of a Molinari Sprint has special meaning: Jackie raced his #5 boat in the early 70's - which ultimately ended up in Canada in 1972, first driven by Spencer Dunn in S Class, then by me in '73 as a U1 & SJ Boat (#11). Many great memories for all concerned!
Don and I bought that Molinari together 50/50— cost was £1000 — later that year I was taken on by the Mercury Race team.
They supplied a new 17’ boat.
I sold Don my half of the 18’ yellow Molly the week before the London race—— he then painted it “
“GAWD-L-PUS.
He won the London race at a cantor—— I raced A 16’ Levi called PHAEDRA——- bought it off Julian Bailey day before the race—- never got it set up right, Don lapped me twice!

Most lovable bloody rogue ever —— but you couldn’t help but like him— Circuit—— Offshore—— didn’t matter to him.
SIROIS and him were great friends—— think Bill was the better driver—- Pruett tended to drive the nuts offn a boat —— SIROIS “Coaxed” the best out of any boat!
