Got this in my '68 Checkmate - two tilt screws loosen up constantly. Loctited them now, will never get them out! Love patent drawings, that was pure art - and had to be done in ink!

I remember back in the day Smiling Jack's had a deal, "buy two V6's at list price, get the third one free! There were guys from Wisconsin drove down there to get in on that action. Seems to me Jacks was also buying complete motors and taking them apart - selling the parts made more money than selling a complete engine and it was cheaper than buying stock parts from mother Mercury.
DAMN! "Buy two, get one free?"! Thats the way to do it!

...Could tell you a story or two about Jack Bishop. But I won't. He was a truck driver by trade. By the way, the breaking down of sterndrive packages & outboards has been going on for decades here in Florida, and still exists today. Especially in the "for export" buyers, and sellers biz. Just one of the many reasons so many legitimate dealers can't compete & eventually fold, over the past 30 years or more.
