I got the boat after the triples were removed, so I only experienced the twin 300's. Obviously, 600 hp is going to accelerate better than 400. However, I ran faster with the single 400. My boat lost something like 600 lb, not to mention the reduction in drag by having one less gearcase in the water. I believe toffen experienced the same thing because his single 400r ran the same speed as his twin 280's. There's a long list of other benefits as well, such as fuel economy (>4 mpg at 60 mph vs <2), reduced maintenance, easy starting and smooth quiet idle, single configurable display with gauges and maps, drive by wire, power steering, an overall cleaner installation, etc. I have no regrets, except it sure looked cool with a pair of 300's hanging off the back.Quote:
