My guess is a 383 stoker as the 383 was a pretty standard option in the Roadrunners.

Most 413’s in passenger cars weren’t “Max Wedges.” Only the 62 and 63 “Super Stock” b-bodies got the short ram “max wedge” motor. The 426 max wedge was available early in 64 when the light weight aluminum front ends were introduced. Of course the Hemi became available later that year and the wedge was history in drag racing! For 65 the light weight front end became fiberglass. The aluminum 64’s were known as “tender fenders!”
My first car was a 65 Sport Fury with the 426 wedge and 4 speed. Had a 413 in my motorhome. Both very thirsty but good engines.

A while back Talladega Speedway had an impressive collection of the Daytonas, Superbirds, and Talladega Torinos at the track during one of the races. These cars were all over the road when I was a kid and now I wish I had a few of em. The deal at Dega was cool as hell cuz they put em all on the track for a couple parade laps. I was amazed at the amount of them that were driven as opposed to trailered to the track.

The wing cars unrestricted then had some impressive top speed with stability
The engineering-mule Daytona was built strictly within the guidelines set down by NASCAR. It was a closely guarded corporate secret that Buddy Baker had routinely run laps with that very same mule, at the Chrysler Corporation Proving Ground in Chelsea Michigan at 235 miles an hour. That wasn't the full potential either — Charlie Glotzbach had taken the mule to laps over 240 miles an hour at Chelsea! The hottest was 243 miles an hour.
Eat that !
The last wing car to compete in NASCAR was a Daytona that finished 7th (after a wreck that put it two laps down) in the 1971 Daytona 500. This accomplishment was impressive because NASCAR had attempted to keep the wing cars out of the race by imposing a 305 cid limit (at the time the rest of the field was running 429 cid)! Talk about an underdog!!!
I just happened to find a picture in my phone of a 413 Max Wedge I took a few weeks ago...
