Ever noticed how Lasse keeps on showing pics of OMC’S from over thirty years ago—- over and over and over and over again ?
Must be because that’s the time they ceased to exist as a competitor!
Didnt they go belly up or something?
Funny how it’s gone the full cycle—— now Mercury make the V8’s—- and get all the publicity !
Havent heard of a JOHNSON being made—- anybody out there know ?
Is there such a thing as Auntie Evinrude any more
I remember Timmy SEEBOLD running one of Veldens old motors in the USA series for Greg Jacobson—— but not for long. Did it ever win anything?—— even a heat ?
Here’ s raising a glass to Lasse—— large malt of course. Afraid I never was much of a Stella drinker!

how about a list of the FONDA races locations and winners?
Even before FONDA pilgrim, there was the CANON series of F1 races organised by Parkinson—- open to all makes but limited to a formula of 2 litres.
Highly successful for three years from 1978-1981.
When canon pulled the plug and Mercury cooled down on racing, there was no organised F1 racing !
I had called it a day and was happy to retire. I had the idea of forming a WW POWER BOAT DRIVERS Association which I put forward at the London boat show. Then a Number of drivers including Jenkins, Percival and Spalding asked me to organise a race series—— after a month, I was hopelessly out of my depth and well overdrawn at the bank.
Parkinson stepped in —— with a little help from Mercury—and Viola— we had us a series.
It ran for 12 years, very successfully in spite of interference from the UIM—— losing the F1 title to the OMC OZ unlimited series ( which folded ignominiously) ?
I will ask Parky to produce a full list of all the races and results—— he has every one of them in alphabetical and chronological order. He is a most methodical and tidy person. It is the only full copy of 2 litre racing anywhere—— Mercury were veery lapse in record keeping. But big on garbageing.

Who ran F1 in the 70's when there was the 2 factorys head to head pre Canon?
Nobody—— there was no F1 before the Canon series in Europe !
Idea of F1/2/3/4 was first mooted by CHARLIE Sheppard in the Bristol Docks race—— this was to clarify for the spectators the different boats and engines, which up to that time most people had great difficulty in understanding.
We followed the UIM rules and categories O series was and still is a hydroplane class which conveniently fitted the capacities we were running.
ON maximum two litres, anything above that fitted into the OZ class all the way up to infinity.
OZ allows multiple motors on any size Hull, there is No limit it’s a runaway idiot class —— totally unmanageable! In the early days there was no minimum either, but OMC in their wisdom had a rule passed by the UIM that the minimum capacity had to be 2001 cc—- effectively ruling out any ON motors from running with the OZ’s
Molinari could only run in the OZ class with twin engines—— in actual fact—- there was nothing to stop him putting ten engines on the transom if he wished——- its allowed in the rules pilgrim!

Bush baby—— he came to stay with us at the farm in Shipley—- we wound up working on a film that had a seaplane landing on Knepp Castle lake. Then he helped me build a balcony on my daughters house—— think that was right after Hannover when he and Cappollini got into it big time.

Parkinson did get some recognition for his role in promoting top class racing under UIM rules!
My own view is, that he did quite well in spite of the UIM .
