Here is the correct fact of the Gold Team-Benson & Hedges.
The original two boat team started 1983..(same year and time I started racing the F1-V8 series)
Luigi Valdano in his #17 Molinari/Gold Team-Benson & Hedges/Evinrude V8 was one of the the two.
The second boat was #12 Francios Salabert in his Molinari/Gold Team-Benson & Hedges/Johnson V8.

When they ran the long course in Kankakee, the fast guys in SST 60 would see around 85 mph. On the short course used in the last years, 80 mph.

Brigette Bardot - Life Magazine
Oh yeah, there's a 1961 Johnson Outboard in that photo!!
**OMC On A Roll - **
By the beginning of the 1960’s, Johnson & Evinrude were experiencing remarkable sales success with Johnson reaching a production milestone of two-million outboards. The first outboard brand to do so. OMC’s export division was selling outboards throughout the world and producing motors in Bruges Belgium for Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the Orient. While the 75hp V4 was heralding a new era of larger boats, the 2-cylinder Compact Model 18hp, 10hp and 5½ hp motors were still the mainstays of Johnson’s sales leadership.

Evinrude ‘E’ Logo History
As the mid-1950’s ushered in the “Jet Age”, both automobiles and outboard runabouts adopted sleeker styling while Evinrude’s styling was boxy and angular featuring a block “E” logo (upper right) and out of step with the times. That would change in 1960 when Evinrude introduced a new lineup of "Jetstream Styled” outboards for the 1961 model year designed by Brooks Stevens, Evinrude’s contract stylist. These sleeker and curvier new engines – lead by the 75hp Starflite V4 - would sport an equally sleeker new stylized E logo. Every engine in the line would feature the new logo which would also appear prominently on every page of the 1961 catalog. That unique new logo would become the most recognizable symbol of Evinrude in the modern era - and endure until 1997.
The “New OMC” Launched in 1998
Now under new ownership, OMC was re-branded as the “New OMC” in an attempt to separate itself from the difficulties of the past decade. And, to further step away from that past, both Evinrude and Johnson would receive newly designed logos. The new Evinrude logo would adopt a more contemporary look similar to what was seen on automobiles at that time. The design, however, would be short lived.
BRP Acquires Evinrude in 2001
Following Bombardier’s purchase of Evinrude, the E logos were phased out in favor of the homely BRP sprocket logo. Corporate egos being what they are, Bombardier was more focused on touting the own heritage instead of the Evinrude heritage. Apparently, a snowmobile heritage is more significant to boaters than a remarkable outboard heritage.
