So if I understand that right, the people at Toyota should make the same as people at Burger King?
Back in the day a union said Mr Corporation is making tons of money, give us a raise. They got a raise, why shouldn't they? Today that is no longer the case, but I've seen a great deal of profitable businesses pay more to their help. Manufacturing makes more money, they can and tend to pay more. Not today of course, nobody has to because here there are no jobs...and that will spread and everyone will make less. Middle class will go away.
Right, people need to make money to buy stuff....certainly my point and IMO the only thing that will make things better in the future. There are plenty of other countries to move to if one wants to live a lower level of living.
If GM did Chap 11 and came out paying the same as Toyota, those would still be good pay jobs. I am certain they would be filled in a matter of minutes. The unions have been living in the 70s for a long time, don't think I am supporting their recent actions when they have caused much pain here. They are the ones who have pushed a lot of great jobs out of the country, question is will they push the rest out too? (indirectly or directly)
I just can't see where what plane the CEOs of these huge companies fly on factors into this, it is only liberal media fodder. This is a serious situation that will affect a lot of Americans should those jobs be lost, and this is the best question congress can come up with? (or at least appears to be most noteworthy to the press) The millions of people put out of work will care less if he would have arrived in a spaceship when they lose their house/car/whatever.
