1st coat of paint in the bilge :) , once I run the fuel fill, and fuel vent, i will glass down the tank hatch and finish the floor, and cutting in around the gas tank area. I figured i would post a pic up for you guys http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f2...e/IMG_0583.jpg

Mikeylarge--the back looks great, I re-did mine but I should have put drain holes in the back toward the corners. If the boat is tilted on the trailer the water just lays there, and lays there...not good.
Some more shots That's my polock buddy, you gotta have one of them on the job. He can lift the boat up if need be...LOL
Highvelocity- I put drains in my knees, but i also put those angle pieces to guide the water into the bilge so that all my rigging in the back of the boat can stay fairly dry when i wash the floor down. :thumbsup: The angle peices are also completely out of the way of a back seat if i ever want to build one for the boat

I see holes in the knees down in the bilge but nothing on the top deck. My main concern is standing water, it seems that if water sits too long anywhere it finds a way into wood. Once the glass/gel coat crazes a bit it becomes permeable. I am going to cut out the sections of deck to the left and right of knees on mine and lay in some more glass. Then just leave those sections open to let the water get to the bilge. I run a back seat so it will just give me more storage.Quote:

Enough questions from me. I have aquired (borrowed) a 1988 Regal Velocity from my friend Mark "Waterboy1". He has given me the ok to have at it with his boat. So my plan is to take off his 2.4 slightly warmed over 200 and replace it with my 3.0 250efi with the hopes of getting into the 80's with it. If I do I will be looking for a early Stepp Velocity and the Challenger will be going on the sales block. The boat is in pretty good shape with a straight bottom. Best speed has been 72 with 2.4. I will keep everyone posted. I am told the best place with my motor is gonna be 2 inches above the pad with a 30p 4 blade. We shall see.:thumbsup:

Johnny I will be supprised if is faster than my Challenger with the same power, maybe easier to drive thats about it I think. The Challenger is still going up to RobF to be repaired reguardless of outcome.

So much for this. My steering tube on my engine would have to be replaced to use the steering system that is in the Velocity. I have no reason to change it cause my system is an older Hynautic system. So thats that. I will move Waterboy1 to the back yard with the rest of the fleet.

It belongs to a friend of mine. Hes having some trouble with motor heat wise I think. I might just take a look at it for him. He is gonna send it off to have clear coat taken off it that is peeling.

You should have bought a third seat and centered the steering. My 22 ran 76.5 consistantly on gps with a 260,no set back,and believe it or not only a 22"chopper.The boat was so dialed in it barley used fuel.Not to mention it weighed 3300lbs with the trailer and no fuel. It took years to get it there. Even Steve Stepp asked me some questions about the package.

I wanted to do center steering, but this set up will work better for the way I will be using the boat :cheers: you need room for the cooler!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mikey, are the pieces/panels at the gunwale glassed in?? (Along the floor)??
dkerns- the pieces on the floor are fiberglass angle that i made, and glassed into the boat :thumbsup::thumbsup: it's getting there slowly

I am concerned about where you have the seat mounts layed out. It looks like from that picture, that the seats are going to be close to one another toward the center. Now will that make shifting the boat awkward. It looks like your arm will have to reach to the right quite a bit to reach the shifter. I'm sure a hot foot will solve the throttle problem though. Plus putting a cooler between seats is out, and getting access under the bow will be a challenge at best with the seats in place. I guess none of those things are problem if it's more of a race boat.
By the way your workmanship looks is great, very clean.

Highvelocity- the seats will just about be touching, there is no reason for me to go underneath the front deck besides to fix something, and im 6'5" so the shifter issue will not be a problem, i can easily reach the side of the boat :thumbsup:
