Donald Campbell used one at Coniston back in 1967 which certainly slowed him down on the 1st run..on the return leg however..........

Perhaps you have already viewed this, but if not, this is a fascinating documentary of the recovery of Bluebird back in March of 2001. The time, technology and patience involved was unimaginable. In the end Bluebird got to see the sun again after 34 years on the bottom.

Love the pic. That's my dad, brother and some other family a few years back. Wish I could have kept that one. Such a cool rig and perfect for Havasu IMO. If only I didn't have the Scarab at the time. :)
