Thanks..I wish there was a picture. I have the one when Barry races a Seebold with the Evinrude F1-V8 (carb with 12 inch mid section)

It seemed to me that Barry Woods and Bill Seebold had a strong gentleman's bonding off the race course.
Which I did not detect between other long-term opposing (OMC & Merc) factory team drivers. Other opposing team drivers were cordial to each other, but the Outboard competition war dictated a certain degree of distance between OMC & Merc drivers.
Yes, they do and Bill told me so at a fishing tournament he invited me and Carina to.

Billy invited the entire OMC race team over to his house after the St. Louis race where Barry barrel rolled the Rotary to lose the race.
OZ Class racing St. Louis 1974.
A mix of Merc V6, OMC V6 and 2 Rotary’s..

Burt was our OMC rep I always loved that boat.
The boat #700 was Burt Ross’s number & has his name as driver along side the cockpit. The color scheme was typical of Johnson Raceboat schemes for advertising purposes. In 1971 I drove a Molinari with a V-4 that was painted similarly & I gave a poster in my garage with a V-4, rigged boat, a V-6 rigged boat & a Rotary all Johnson’s & with the later Johnson dark Orange (Stinger) color. All the same scheme. Perhaps Burt’s boat was first used for that purpose then given to him to race.
I was a close friend of Bill & still am starting from Alky racing. Actually in Paris in 1970 I was alone in the Hilton hotel lounge , no other OMC guys, not even Ron Hill my ck- driver when Bill asked ne to go with his group to a place I won’t name. Fees was there, Jackie Wilson, Bill Welch & a few others. I was also friendly with Pruett, Serra & some others.
I think its time again to bring up the correct look & fact of the fastest UIM rules outboard boat in the world.
The top speed in one direction was 181.569 MPH and in the return run 171.544. (There was a small incident on the return run)
Average speed and official record..176.544
