The short answer is megaphones make about 15% power increase; expansion chambers can make more, providing the rest of the motor can be designed to work with them. The old crossflow/deflector piston outboards cannot be re-worked to take full advanatage of a closed end expansion chamber, so, on a crossflow/deflector 2 stroke, the extra length and weight is only a liability and you take your 15% and be happy.
The Twister and T-1 internal tuning isn't an expansion chamber or megaphone, its just an improved 120° 3 cylinder pulse tuning design.
2 excesses prohibit the deflector from taking advantage of an expansion chamber - excess cylinder intake/transfer port area and timing and too much piston dome surface area.
Kaaden's original scheme wasn't just the expansion chamber, it was the rest of the motor design particularly the flat topped piston and Schnerle loop port timing.
