Been dwelling on Mathew Caldwell’s accident all weekend.
Here we have a highly intelligent individual——-driving a very sophisticated piece of kit——- that only people who are highly qualified should be piloting.
Was it a case of owner thinking he knew better ?
Equipment failure——- laziness or something else !
Remember Mark telling Hodges that his latest boat was a dog, wouldn’t turn——- Chris was telling him how he had to settle the boat and then turn.
This turned into an argument with Hodges jumping into the boat and promptly running into the rocks and tearing the bottom out of the boat.
Just another case of the builder thinking he knew better than the driver !
Wonder if the Caldwell incident was something along those lines ?
I do know his regular test pilot is a very good, widely experienced and respected driver.
There will be questions asked that must be answered——- which is as it should be when accidents happen!
Just happy that Mathew is making good progress——— I wish you all the very best and a speedy recovery.

Been and gone and done it again ———— said I would only do the one at a time bit in the future—— best laid plans of mice and men and old long since retired old gits trying to keep the arthritis at bay!
Need some topside piccies Gene of the Gentry Eagle——— Thought I had enough—— but not enough detail of the radar and radio equipment !
You said you had pictures——- well I need them——- got the thing roughed out——- next comes the clever bit.
Dang Jackie--you're taking me back more than 30 years!!
This pic was taken at a ritzy marina in Mamaroneck NY--we had set the Miami/NY record--even though having huge issues with the Lycoming.
Lycoming sent an engineer to troubleshoot the engine---and set the boat on fire!!
Luckily there was an off-duty firefighter on the crew---
Pissed off all the yacht owners--the Marina asked us to leave---

Gives me an idea of where I’m at —— and where I’m going.
You know what I’m like Gene, see something, think about it, and afore you can say Switzer, I’m on a mission.
Generally, i set off with the top down—— empty tank—— into a tornado, with bald tyres —— but at least——- I remembered.
I’ll keep you in the “LOOP”——— another bloody silly present day bit of garbage!
All my good pics are in Colorado, Jackie
And we are still a couple weeks from heading back to the 'Frozen North'--
Meanwhile---

Whats that photo show..forgot to check the tide?
Hells teeth Gene, that’s a bit drastic—— you got “Lost in the fog” or something ?
Better view of the radar tower in the front, and the ball and saw horse at the rear.
I can wait until you head back to the wilderness for the piccies.
I knew there were three attempts to “Cross the Atlantic”——- Branson—- Gentry and Magoon——— So , who was the fourth?
See that Rolla did the props for it——- I coulda Ask him what he knows ? But he doesn’t talk much about his clientele——- and believe me Gene——- there’s some big names there.
Mark was working for Phil in Lugano at that time——- he was there for ten years.
Did the morning shift ok —— bit of this, and a bit of that, big strides on the Gentry——- Bigger boat coming along !
When I get stymied on one I switch to the other.
On top of that I cut out another damned Switzer———- you can tell I’m not all there —— doing stuff like that.
To cap it all—— I had to go to the hospital to have my last tooth out———buggered if that wasn’t an uncomfortable experience .
Should have known that when my own dentist wouldn’t do it.
Currently not eating——- so I should be shedding the pounds !
remember the days...make that years, the gentry sat at harry schoells infinity yard along I-95 highway at the huge bridge overpass, on State Rd-84 on the New River. always needed work. allen brown was working there overseeing its conversion to a pleasure boat afterwards. long drawnout schoell process as usual.
