Lars do you have any more info on the stock based, 3.0 V-6 looper class??
Formula 3000 maybe??
Never seen, or heard of it anywhere but on here on your thread.
Were Clerici boats ever brought to the US? I saw plenty of Molinaris and Schultzs but I had never even heard of Clerici boats until I saw them in this forum.
The UIM F-3000 class history...
It started 1986 when OMC came out with the production 2.7 liter looper V6. (Only class was UIM SZ..Tunnel boat with production engines max 3 liter)
Drivers used the OMC engine with the 20 inch shaft and regular gearcase with lots of handling issues.
The big top heavy engine and a very large propellers was evil and terrible prop. rides happened.
A few really bad accident in Paris 6 hours.
Drivers asked UIM the let then use racing mid sections/gearcases, but still the same production powerhead..UIM said yes and named it UIM F-3000
OMC did not build a ready to race engine for the UIM F-3000 class but Leo made a few and sold.
The F-3000 was popular for a few years but died out..
That's the short story.

Clerici racing boats.
Franco Clerici was a soft spoken (Italian only) building very nice racing boats in his garage next to his living house in a very small village called Formigara outside Cremona Italy.
Clerici boats was the one to have for the UIM SD, SE in the seventies.
Far better than anything else.
Franco also raced himself but only in Italy.
He built boats for all classes and this is a UIM R3 inboard class.
I purchased around ten different boats from him. All winners.
Franco also invited me to his daughters wedding. Her name was Lara.
I do not think any of Franco Clerici's boats ended up in the USA.

One more thing about F-3000..drivers could still use the production engine in the class if you did not want to spend the money for a 6 inch racing mid section/gearcase. (In a 24 hour race it was probably a better choice..)
Here is from Rouen 24 hours..

Thx Lars.
I assumed they were turds as built and assumed/hoped the class morphed into what it should/could have been.
Similar to current APBA F-150 rules.
A 2.7 liter (the first V-6 loopers, ‘86 - ‘87) on any mid and any gear case.
I want to build one.
Back to Clerici boats on a a great note and a very sad....our Italian friend Paolo raced probably the last built Clerici in the UIM F2 2013.
Paolo won a few UIM F2 races with this #25 Clerici that year..but a very sad accident ended his life in Milan same year.
R.I.P my friend.

UIM dont like enthusiast classes as no money for them.
Texas F1 has merged F1 with F2 in many places.
Obvious to see it has long future
Not sure who or where in the world this is but it’s a nice one.
One of the evil handling UIM SZ/F-3000.

I think this might be Canadian.
I think Poliseno Marine is (or was) a marine dealership in Quebec.
The SL below the #122 was a Canadian Boating Federation (CBF) Sportscraft class designation for a tunnel class with stock V6 engines.
The SL class was a fairly popular class here in the early-mid 80's.
Here is another Canadian SL rig;

Thanks..
First..the picture link is not working.
UIM did have an SL class and if I remember right you must use a EPA approve power-head..like an 250 E-TEC.
Could this be the same Canadian driver/boat..same number.
