Very cool. And a 2000 250 efi can be worked up to something simmilar?
Very impressive numbers - congrats - Like the Captain, I wonder what can be done with a standard 225/250 EFI block.

That is sick, wish i had some fat cash for a trio of those. Good luck with everything. That blue is sweet, and so are the "TWINS".
Real impressive number. Are you going to add a little more compression?
Troy & I will be in El Cajon Monday to pick up his latest DCB. Would love to see you and talk 300X crap. Troy has three of them on this one. Might get you a customer. You know how he is about you California guys.
Just got our latest 3.0 back to the shop today. Should have it on the 21 Liberator shortly. Was hoping to talk Ron into meeting us 1/2 way for a little test & tune. Alaska to Louisiana, I guess Idaho would do. How about it Ron?

After looking at what ya'll are up to, I figured a little NOS might be needed.

What does a stock 300x put out on your dyno? Are these readings taken at the crank?

I may be mistaken, but I believe a stock 300x puts out 330 hp at the prop shaft. I know it puts out 10% more HP than a 300 PM, and I believe advertised OB hp has been measured at the prop shaft for a number of years.Quote:

That is propshaft hp , 6700 rpm. Here is a picture of a Simonized 300x.
Dennis, Give me a call when you guys get in town. You are welcome to check out my shop. I checked out Troy's new boat yesterday. It looks great.
When you get a chance, can you post a little info about your dyno setup? How are you getting "propshaft" numbers from this dyno?
The picture posted appears to be a powerhead dyno. How do you put in extra resistance to re-create lower unit parasitic HP loss?Quote:

I have two dyno's one is a powerhead and the other is a propshaft. With the software I have you can compensate for the extra load also. The powerhead with the MAD EFI dyno's out at 395 powerhead, 361 propshaft.
Thanks Simon...If I'm doing the math right...than the lower unit robs 34 hp or approximately 10% of the power.......
Folks..it's definitely long past the time when we need a dry sump outboard lower unit.

That is pretty close to what it is. I checked it with a couple of 2.5's and a 2.7. I dynoed on the boat, then dynoed on the stand.
Simon...by the way...that engine looks terrific.

Hey Rich,
The dry sump sportmaster has been looked into. Pat Weisman was on it, then it was decided that the project was not near worth the effort.
Try AliSyn Type 1 gear lube, change it religiously... but on a 2.5 you get 200 rpm.
RT........ and you can gain by adding a vent bottle just like the speedmaster (outboard) use.
